Feature: SIP-Controlled MGW For Detecting DTMF Signals Description: SIP-Controlled MGW For Detecting DTMF Signals Model: SF3S00FSIP01

The document discusses three features: 1. SIP-Controlled MGW for Detecting DTMF Signals allows a media gateway controlled by SIP to detect DTMF signals during SIP trunk calls and report them to the SCP. 2. IM-SSF enables the SoftX3000 to function as an IM-SSF to trigger IN services for IMS subscribers through the S-CSCF and SCP. 3. SIP Codec switchover allows SoftX3000 to control codec conversion via a media gateway when the caller and callee SIP trunks do not support a common codec.

NGN-SX-030162 Supporting MGW controlled by SIP

Feature: SIP-Controlled MGW for Detecting DTMF Signals Description: SIP-Controlled MGW for Detecting DTMF Signals Model: SF3S00FSIP01 When the SoftX3000 acts as an SSP in a tandem office on the network, the dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signals sent from the caller during a call must be detected in order to trigger IN services. During a SIP or H.323 incoming trunk call, however, the SIP or H.323 signaling is independent of the bearer network. Therefore, the DTMF signals transmitted over the bearer network cannot be detected. In such a case, a media gateway (MGW) controlled by the SIP or H.323 module is added to detect the DTMF signals and report the detection result to the SCP. At present, the MGW can be controlled only by the SIP module. The H.323 module can implement the detection of DTMF signals through SIP trunk self-loop. The feature of SIP-controlled MGW for detecting DTMF signals is generally applicable to the scenario in which detection of DTMF signals is required for incoming SIP trunk calls. Application Scenario: This feature enables the MGW to detect the DTMF signals (such as ##) sent by the caller during a call, report the detection result to the SCP, and report the related service processing information and charging information to the SCP. In normal cases, an end office interworks with the SoftX3000 that acts as both an SSP and a tandem office through the SIP, SIP-I, or SIP-T trunks. The media streams, however are transmitted independent of the SoftX3000. If the SSP is required to process the DTMF signals sent by subscribers during a call, the end office must support the detection of in-band DTMF signals and forward the in-band DTMF signals to the SoftX3000 through SIP INFO messages. Certain end offices, however, do not support the detection of DTMF signals. In this case, the SSP must detect the DTMF signals. Besides the IN services, this feature is also applicable to other scenarios in which detection of DTMF signals is required. For example, if the peer office cannot detect the DTMF signals generated during a call, the SoftX3000 detects the DTMF signals and sends the numbers dialed during the call to the peer office through signaling messages. Restriction: 1) It is applicable only to SIP incoming trunks. 2) The SIP-controlled MGW can process only SIP calls. A virtual MGW can be configured on the UMG8900 to process the SIP signaling in particular.

If the media information contains video streams, the SIP module does not control the MGW. 4) If the DTMF signals sent by the caller requires to be detected when the callee is alerted, the following two conditions must be met: The terminating office plays an announcement. After the originating office receives the alerting message that contains media information, the number dialed by the caller when listening to the wait tone can be transmitted to the callee through media streams. 5) This feature is mutually exclusive with the feature of SingTel long-duration call interception. 6) In certain special services, such as caller- or callee-determined call release, the callee side sends media streams to the caller in SENDONLY mode. In this case, the SIP trunks cannot collect the called digits because the end office on the caller side does not send the DTMF signals to the callee. 7) It is recommended that the caller side supports RFC 2833; otherwise, the MGW may incorrectly detect the DTMF signals.

2. NGN-SX-030168 IM-SSF

Feature: IM-SSF Description: IM-SSF Module: Not Free Of Charge: LSF3SSF01 This feature enables the SoftX3000 to function as the IM-SSF. By interworking with the S-CSCF and SCP, the IM-SSF provides triggering of the IN services through INAP. Implementation: After an IMS subscriber who registers IN services with the HSS inidicate an IN call or dials IN service access code, the S-CSCF routes the call to the IM-SSF. Then, the IM-SSF trigger the IN procedure and routes the call to the SCP. Through such a method, the IMS subscribers can enjoy the IN services in the PSTN network. Interface: Functioning as the AS for providing IN services, the IM-SSF interworks with the S-CSCF over the ISC interface and interworks with the SCP over INAP.

Note: Selling of this function has the following restrictions. 1. The IM-SSF must not be introduced as an official released feature. 2. The IM-SSF can be embedded with the softswitch and MGCF provided that an independent set of FCCU, MSGI, BSGI, and IFMI boards are available for processing signaling for the IM-SSF. 3. If the customer requires the IM-SFF function, you can incorporate this function in the bidding material together with the restrictions.

3. NGN-SX-030172 SIP CodeC switchover

Feature: SIP CodeC switchover Description: SIP CodeC conversion SoftX3000 worked as the tandem office, when the caller and callee party are SIP trunks, if there is no common codes the caller and callee party supported together, the call will fail.

To avoid this situation, SoftX3000 developed the codec conversion feature by which SoftX3000 could control UMG to make codec conversion, then make the codec negotiation between caller and called, then the call will be connected.

restriction: For now,SoftX3000 support codec conversion under the below two situations: 1.The incoming trunk is H323, and the outgoing trunk is SIP. 2. The incoming trunk is SIP, and the outgoing trunk is SIP. If the incoming trunk is SIP/H323, and the outgoing trunk is H323, then need to configure the sip circle trunk to solve the problem.
