Welcome to Oracle Business Intelligence Tools 10g (10.1.2)


Overview Oracle Business Intelligence Tools enable users to manage data, develop custom applications, create enterprise reports, and include data in spreadsheets. Administrators will be able to efficiently prepare relational data sources for use by Oracle Business Intelligence. Developers can rapidly develop custom applications against multidimensional (OLAP) data sources. Report authors can build high fidelity, enterprise reports to provide and distribute business information to all levels within and outside the organization in a scalable and secure environment. Business users will gain direct access to multidimensional data in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. With Oracle Business Intelligence Tools, users can implement systems that allow organizations to gain timely and accurate insight into operations, customers, and suppliers to increase profitability. For an overview, start with the Quick Tour to learn about the Oracle Business Intelligence Tools components and what they can do for you. Installing the Software To install Oracle Business Intelligence Tools, see the Oracle Business Intelligence Tools Installation Guide. It explains the system requirements, installation steps and postinstallation tasks required to install and use Oracle Business Intelligence. Consult the Release Notes for late breaking information about the release. Getting Started There are several ways to get started with Oracle Business Intelligence Tools. Documentation, Tutorials, and Samples provide instructions on how to use the key features of this release.

Oracle Business Intelligence Spreadsheet Add-in

To use the Spreadsheet Add-In, start Microsoft Excel and go to the OracleBI menu. The Spreadsheet Add-In works with data prepared for multidimensional analysis. See the the Installation Guide for more information on preparing your data or install the Spreadsheet Add-In Samples to work with a sample set of data. Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Tutorials | Samples | Documentation Discoverer Administrator and Discoverer Desktop are launched from Start Menu shortcuts. The Discoverer Administration Guide explains how to use Administrator to create and maintain a Discoverer End User Layer (EUL). Once you have an EUL, the Discoverer Desktop User's Guide explains how to get started analyzing your data. Or you can install the Discoverer Samples to work with a sample set of data.

To build high fidelity, enterprise reports launch Reports Builder from your Start Menu. Oracle Business Intelligence Beans Tutorials | Samples To develop applications with the BI Beans, launch Oracle JDeveloper. The BI Beans work with data prepared for multidimensional analysis. See the the Installation Guide for more information on preparing your data or install the BI Beans Samples to work with a sample set of data.
