The Course
This intensive training short course is organised for the benefit of all those who are engaged in the manufacture, research and development as well as the commercial aspects of textile business. The course will cover the fibres, yarns and fabrics used in textile products for apparel, household and technical textiles applications as core modules. The third day will offer two specialist modules covering dyeing and finishing & fabric testing & analysis.

The Textile Institute

Dr Subbiyan Rajendran CText FTI
Raj is a distinguished research scientist and has earned worldwide recognition in healthcare and medical textiles research. He has 29 years of research experience and has published 135 research papers that include 9 books and 7 patents. Details of his publications can be seen at www.bolton.ac.uk/staff/sr2/. He is a Fellow of The Textile Institute and a member of Council and Diplomas Committee.

Trevor currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Textile Technology at the University of Bolton. He has organised and delivered short courses in various aspects of textiles over the last 20 years. He also regularly lectures in many countries around the world and work as a consultant to the textile industry.

Prof Subhash Anand MBE CText FTI

Subhash is Professor of Technical Textiles at the University of Bolton. He has organised and conducted short courses in various areas of textiles over the last 30 years. He also works as a consultant to many textile companies across the world including Baltex Ltd, Lantor UK Ltd, Nylatex, Tytex A/S and Bhilwara Group.

Xiaogang Chen is a Reader in the School of materials at the University of Manchester, and is a trained textile scientist and technologist. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from China and his PhD degree from Leeds University in the UK, specialising in textile engineering. His teaching career in textile technology started in 1985 in China and continued in the UK from 1994. He is an active researcher into textile engineering, textile composites, and technical textiles, in particular ballistic protective textiles. His researches are funded by the EPSRC, DTI, Home Office and MOD, as well as from industry.

Derek has worked in industry as the Head of Dyeing and Finishing for Marks and Spencer. During this time he developed and introduced the first retailer environmental code of practice and many new product developments which even today are still corner stones within the industry. His passion is product and process developments reducing the valuable resources of chemicals energy and water. Derek now runs his own consultancy Deltecint Ltd and sits on various educational bodies for example, The TI, SDC and the RITE GROUP.

Mrs Christine Wilkinson CText ATI

Christine was a Principal Lecturer and Acting Head of Department at Huddersfield Polytechnic, lecturing in Design and Engineering of Textile Products and Testing. More lately she has prepared and taught on the Textile Training Networks Short Course programme at Leeds University.
