Design & Technology is a subject that will help you to discover more about
the world that we live in. You will learn how things are designed to meet
people’s need, how they function, how technology is involved to enhance the
functions, and appreciate the value of the balance of aesthetic and function
as good design.

This process is also a very useful model to help us with our school projects
irregardless of the subjects or CCA areas. In Design and Technology, we will
further break down each of the 5 stages into smaller sections to help us
simplify the task.

Do the terms found in the last flow chart look very “foreign” to you? Don’t
worry! We will understand and appreciate the Design Process better as we
embarked on a real-life project from this point forth. Your very
knowledgeable and approacheable teachers will facilitate your learning and
help you along the way. This means that you will play a major role in
producing creative yet appropriate ideas and making important decisions in
designing a solution for your task. You will need to constantly reflect upon
your research and previous work to make sound decisions for your designs. I
repeat your teachers will guide you along, but they will not be making
decisions for you. Remember this, you will now be the most person in making
decision for your solutions. However, mark these words, “Choices will lead to
consequences”. The consequences will either turn out to be positive or
negative, depending on the quality of your thoughts and actions. You will be
assessed according to these.
Work in pairs. Look at the “Charging Station” in the picture below and
