MONTHLY CRIME BULLETIN Burglary August 2013 Activity Summary: There were eighteen (18) burglaries reported in August 2013. There were twenty-four (24) burglaries reported during the same time frame in 2012. This is a 25% decrease from 2012 to 2013. Eleven (11), or 61%, of the incidents involved residential locations. Twelve (12) incidents, or 67%, involved unforced entry. Six (6) incidents, or 33%, were discovered on a Monday. Five (5) incidents, or 28%, were discovered between the hours of 0800 1159 and five (5) occurred between the hours of 1200 - 1559. Seven (7) incidents are open for further investigation, eight (8) have been closed with leads exhausted, one (1) has been closed due to the victim choosing not to prosecute and two (2) have been closed unfounded. Historically, HPD has an average of 23 burglaries during the month of August with a current threshold of 14 to 32. This August, we were within the threshold with 18 reported burglaries. Forecast for September: The average number of burglaries for the month of September is 20 plus or minus 6. By the end of August, there is a 68% chance HPD will have received between 14 and 26 reported B&Es/burglaries. Prepared by: L. Rooks, Crime Analyst
