Fluid Properties Assignment Questions

1. A fluid is defined as any substance that continuously deforms under an applied shear stress and includes both liquids and gases. Solids maintain a fixed shape while fluids do not. 2. Ideal fluids have no viscosity while real fluids do exhibit viscosity which is a measure of a fluid's resistance to flow. Viscosity varies with temperature and decreases as temperature increases. 3. Surface tension is the elastic tendency of a fluid surface which allows it to resist an external force. It is responsible for phenomena such as capillarity and is influenced by factors such as temperature.
