Final Year Project Assessment Rubric

CRITERIA AVAILABLE MARKS Effort Innovation & Self- study Motivation and Project Management Complex Problem Solving UNSATISFACTORY 0-2% There is no interest in project. Poor attendance Basic concepts used correctly. Lack self-study but apply previously taught technique. Slow progress with barely satisfactory result. Unresponsive to supervisor Research problem cannot be comprehended. No progress in solving the problem. BASIC 3-5% Reasonable levels in effort Superficial usage of new concepts. Self-study of new technique, with basic understanding. Slow progress with basic project outcome. Rely on supervisors push to work. Research problem under study can be described. Some research methods are used to solve the complex problem and the problem is partly solved. Reasonable output/ results More than one spelling/ grammar error per page Readable writing style, but difficult to follow GOOD 6-7% Conscientious work Self-study of new concepts/ technique with good understanding. Minor innovative work. Good progress. Need reminder sometimes. Minor problems in project management Causes of the problem under study can be fully explained. Writing styles indicates planning that makes reading easy and flow of material makes understanding easy. Tables, graphs and diagram used appropriately. 13-15% An accurate and complete explanation of key concepts and theories is made, drawing on relevant literature. Enough detail is presented to allow the reader to understand the content and make judgments about it. In addition applications of theory are included to illuminate issues. Readers gain insights.

Project Output Writing

Unreasonable output with poor quality results. Frequent Spelling and grammatical errors. Writing disorganized and difficult to read and understand

AVAILABLE MARKS (for Content) Content

0-4% The explanation is inaccurate, incomplete or confusing that the reader gains little information from the report. Little attempt has been made to help the reader understand the material.

5-8% Moderate explanation of key concepts and theories is made. Sufficient attempt has been made to help the reader understand the material.

9-12% An accurate and complete explanation of key concepts and theories is made, drawing on relevant literature. Enough detail is presented to allow the reader to understand the content and make judgments about it.
