What is an EIM tool? A tool which is managing your organization data is called Enterprise Information Management tool. What EIM tool will do? It Bridges the gap between data and business intelligence and performance management need (SAPs Definition). It delivers best quality data to your Analysis systems. i.e. It combines the data from various sources (Structured or Unstructured), cleanse the data and deliver the data to Analysis systems at any frequency. What are SAPS EIM tools? 1) Information Steward. 2) BODS (BODI + BODQ). 3) SAP MDM. This list goes on.
BODS = BODI + BODQ. It is the first tool which combined DQ and ETL (DI) into one application. BODI is pure ETL functionality. i.e. Extracting data from any source, Transform and Load into any target. BODQ gives more confidence in Analytical systems by cleansing source data (Address cleansing, Data Cleansing, Match and consolidation). Dont need to spend time on reconciliation if you have DQ functionality embedded in regular ETL functionality. BODS is not only a combination of DI,DQ. It is something more.
We can profile the data. Audit and Validate the data. End to End impact and Lineage analysis with metadata integrator. Operational dashboards. Data Quality reports. Data validation reports. Finally Auto Documentation.
