It also helps the students to demonstrate proficiency in the design of a research project, application of appropriate research methods, collection and analysis of data and presentation of results. The other main objectives of the project are to develop and introduce a financial performance measurement and reporting system, which would become part of the minimum quality standards for retail network. It also helps to tackle a major product rationalization programme with the aim of eliminating legacy products. The other objective of the project is to focus on investigating what is needed to aid a cultural change programme. METHODOLOGY

The Methodology identifies what are the steps required for the proper development of the system. It tells what are the steps performed at what stages and how the certain steps are performed. It also identifies what are the resources required for the development of the system. A software requirements or methodology includes many steps. Among them the first steps is the types of resources required. i) Human Resources: The Planner begins by evaluating scope and selecting the skills required to complete development. Both organizational position and specialty are specified. The number of people required only after an estimate of development effort is made. Reusable software Resources: Components based software engineer emphasizes reusability- that is, the creation and reuse of software building blocks. Such building blocks often called components, must be cataloged for easy reference, standardized for easy application and validated for easy integration. Environmental Resources: The environment that supports the software project, often called the software engineering environment, incorporates hardware and software. The software required or used for this project are window XP (Environment on which it is developed), Visual Basic (Where form are designed) and Ms- Access (where database is connected or kept). The hardware required are as per the software requirements.

iii)

After the Resource required in the first steps, then the second steps incorporates in the methodology is to design a data flow diagram (DFD). Data Flow Diagram (DFD): The data flow diagram was first developed by Larry Constantine as a way of expressing system requirements in a graphical form. A DFD is also known as a bubble chart. A DFD has the purpose of clarifying system requirements and identifying major transformations that will become programs in system design. DFD is an important tool used by system analyst.

DFD Symbols: The various types of DFD symbols are as follows: A square, which defines a source or destination of system data, also called an external entity. An external entity is not responsible for any task performed by the system.

Customer An arrow represents data flow. It represents the path over which data travels in the system. A data flow can more between processes, flow into or out of data stores, to and from external entities. Payment Data flow A circle or bubble represents a process that transforms data from one form to another by performing some tasks with the data. Process symbols must have an identification number, from top to bottom and from left to right. 1 Calculate An open rectangle is a data store. A data store is a place where data is held temporarily from one transaction to the next or is stored permanently. On a data flow diagram, a data store is shown whenever a requirement of retrieving/ storing is shown. 1 Customer Calculate

Library is a collection of books and other informational materials available to people for reading, study or reference. The central mission of the library management system is to collect, organize, preserve and provide access to knowledge and information through different books and informational materials. In fulfilling this mission, libraries preserve a valuable record of culture that can be passed down to succeeding generations. Hence library management system are an essential link in this communication between the past, present and future. People in many professions use library resources to assist them in their work. People also use library resources to gain information about personal interests or to obtain recreational materials such as films and novels. Students use libraries to supplement and enhance their classroom experiences to learn skill in locating sources of information and to develop good reading and studying habits. Finally the system describes contemporary library systems in countries throughout the world.
