Annotated Bibliography Assignment


Due: Monday, May 11

Write an annotated bibliography in which you list and evaluate the usefulness of
secondary sources for your final thesis essay. Requirements for this assignment are:

• It must include entries for at least four secondary sources


• Each entry on your annotated bibliography must be at least 250 words long (not
including the bibliographic information)
• It must be formatted in the correct MLA style (see note about formatting below)
• All secondary sources used in your final thesis essay must appear on this
annotated bibliography *
• A copy of the first page of each of your secondary sources (articles, book
chapters, etc.) must be printed / photocopied and turned in WITH the annotated
bibliography. Failure to hand in copies of these first pages (not your originals
—you need those!) of your secondary sources will result in a failing grade for
this assignment
• Place annotated bibliography and copies of sources in a binder with a cover

*If you locate and use secondary source(s) in your final thesis AFTER you have handed
in your annotated bibliography, then you MUST hand in an amended annotated
bibliography that includes an entry (or entries) for the new source(s), along with a copy
of the source(s). Failure to do so will result in a failing grade for the thesis portfolio.

• Assess
• Reflect
Refer to the OWL Handout for full descriptions of how to summarize,
assess and reflect. I expect the guidelines in the OWL Handout to be
followed.
