The Vortex Wash Nozzle has four tangentially offset nozzles providing a high powered vortex (swirling mass) of fluid once the jets deflect off the curved face of tubulars, casing or open hole. Optimization is provided by a specially designed internal flow guide, which increases the tools efficiency by 30% over standard wash tips. This maximizes the flow rate that can be pumped through the tool. Jet velocities and vortex rotational speeds commonly exceed 460 ft/sec and 8,000 rpm respectively. In addition, the flow guide controls the fluid jet stream in such a way as to improve jet coherence and jet projection once it enters the well bore. The vortex then entrains jetted debris into itself which adds another cleaning mechanism, abrasion. An optional fifth downward jet ensures that the entire well bore is targeted.

Applications
The Vortex Jetting Nozzle can be used for: Open hole cleaning of filter cake Standard wash duties utilizing surfactants and/or dispersants when appropriate Build-up removal including scale, sulfur, coke-tar residue, compressor residue, paraffin waxes, paraffin complexes, asphaltenes and sludges Acidizing (wash and matrix) Breaking through hard encrusted fill utilizing single phase liquid slugs

The Vortex Nozzle harnesses the vigorous action of high speed fluid swirl to remove deposits such as muds, gels, waxes, asphaltenes, light scales and filter cake. The Roto-Jet tool complements the Vortex Nozzle by providing a higher level of cleaning intensity through the repetitive direct impact of powerful jets. It is used for applications involving known deposits of harder scale and other more tenacious solids, as well as the common situation where exact deposit composition is not known.
