Weekly Reflection - Sample

The document discusses challenges with using technology-based teaching aids in the author's school. There is only one working LCD projector available that teachers have to compete to use, which is located in the school prayer room. This makes it difficult for the author to plan interesting technology-based activities for students. As a result, the author tends to choose indoor paper-based activities instead, which the students complain are boring. The author hopes to be able to provide more engaging video and on-screen lessons in the future but is currently limited by the school's technology resources.

PT3101(R) BATU LINTANG TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTE, KUCHING, SARAWAK Journal Week Dates : 11 : 12 : 24th September 28th September

r 2012

I believe technology has always made humans impressed on what they are capable of especially for the children. This is a major issue that I have in my school; technology-based teaching aids are almost impossible for teachers to exploit. As there is only one working LCD projector available in the school, the chance to use the machine is somehow slim for many teachers here. What makes it worse is when the only place that teachers could use the machine is in the school prayer room where the portable screen is available. Accordingly, whenever I wanted to plan interesting technology-based activities for my pupils, I had to consider many aspects such as setting up the machine and moving the pupils from one place to another. It would definitely take more time to do those things than just carrying out activities in the classroom. Thus, I would rather choose to plan indoor activities that are mostly dealing with worksheets and simple group activities. The drawback is just that my pupils will definitely get bored with the same types of activities. What makes me realised how technology can influence my teachings is when I heard some pupils complaining that they were already bored with traditional paper-and-pen activities. This has made me somehow disappointed with my teaching that I really cannot help myself with providing videos and onscreen lessons. Perhaps I would be able to carry out those kind of lessons in future.
