PERSONAL STATEMENT I am a highly personable natural leader with a passion for the design and feel of magazines. I have high production values and I feel this always shows in my work. QUALIFICATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS Edinburgh Napier University 2012-2013 MSc Magazine Publishing Building knowledge on how to use industry software and overall publishing industry. Brunel University - 2009-2012 BA Hons English with Creative Writing Second Class Honours, Upper division (2:1) Hardenhuish School, Chippenham - 2002-2009 A2 Level: English (B), Psychology (B), Drama (C). AS Level: Physics (C) WORK EXPERIENCE Buzz Magazine January 2013 - Present Acted as Production Editor for the magazine created by the students. Learnt how to communicate and handle a design team of 18 people. Balanced running the team with designing pages for the final product along with the cover. Future Publishing August & November 2011, September 2012 SFX Magazine Learnt about the production schedule of a magazine and its complimentary issues, offering work for the Doctor Who Fanzine and Vampire Special (2012). Acquired skills in transcribing interviews and built on interviewing techniques for Your Collections. Attending group events such as Couch Potato, contributing to the overall feature. Assembled a feature for the Vampire Special on Buffy the Vampire Slayer putting personal interests to good use. Total Film Learnt how to put together complimentary features focusing on 200th issue celebration. Gathered knowledge on how to write reviews, attending screenings and how to put together an interview feature for The Talent and fact gathering for Red Light, Green Light. Immediate Media August 2012 Radio Times Learnt how to deal with consumer feedback, responding to readers letters. Gained further transcribing skills tackling many accents and dialects, including interviews with Sean Bean, Lorraine Kelly and Jack Whitehall. Learnt about gathering interview cuts and how to contact publicity to arrange interviews. Put forward ideas for new features and what hadnt been done before with Merlin. The Lady June 2012 Learnt how to write concise news stories for the websites daily bulletin. Furthered knowledge of advertising and marketing and contacted companies about products. BBC Audiobooks August 2008 Sales and Marketing Department Learnt about the process of issuing a weekly and quarterly marketing publications and the use of AI sheets. Developed database skills. Learnt how to use professional audio editing software and helped produce a sample CD for the Bath Childrens Literary Festival.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Future Publishing January 2012 present Freelance Worker Transcribing interviews for publication in the magazine and on the web, admin work, subbing and writing. The Bell Inn, Lacock March 2006 July 2012 Waitress Quickly working up the ranks to make Starters and Puddings as well as training new staff on the stations and health and safety procedures. Confidence with new people and serving customers, building up a quick repertoire to make them at ease in the restaurant. Trusted to run the restaurant on my own, commanding the waiting staff to run a smooth operation. Southwark Playhouse August 2011 April 2012 Volunteer Steward Working in the box office, sorting out tickets for customers pre-show. Showing patrons to their seats and keeping alert for audience issues during the show. EXTRACURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS Camps International August 2007 - Camp Kenya: Community Worker Attended a 30-day mission in various parts of Kenya; Assisted with the building of toilets for Makongeni village in Kenya; Helped fix animal enclosures of parks in Olgaboli and Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. SKILLS InDesign Literate user of InDesign, with an avid interest in magazine production.
