Save Neet PG 2013
Save Neet PG 2013
states (AP, TN, Karnataka) have already held their state exams as per the Hon'ble SC directive and UP has slated it for 23 April despite stiff opposition and hunger strikes by the medicos. Some of the questions which remain unanswered till now and the questions for which each NEET candidate seeks answer are 1. WHY wasnt this legal tangle with Pvt colleges and few states anticipated by the authorities ???? -- since few "court stays" already existed (as per reports - COMEDK, state of TN already had "stays"). Did the authorities bungle up and put up the NEET notification without going thro the proper procedure for clearing these "stays" before announcing NEET? 2. Why was NEET preponed (compared to actual AIPGE which was in Jan 1st or 2nd week).....was it because Prometric (the exam conducting agency) didn't have available slots in January - any hidden facts here? 3. What is the future of this NEET PG - is it going to be the same problem next year or will we have a foolproof/concrete solution in place? THE SAD SITUATION FACING THE NEET-PG CANDIDATES After MBBS, each doctor spends about 1 to 3 full year in preparation for the annual All India Level PG entrance Exam. And following this exam they pursue their postgraduation in various colleges across the country. India has shortage of doctors as we know but here we have a situation where qualified MBBS doctors are "sitting and doing nothing". Now these MBBS doctors are faced with a situation where they have written an exam which was preponed (compared to previous years) and the results are postponed (until further directive by Hon'ble supreme court). The various state and private medical college exams are also being held as of the case drags on and on in the court. This has led to students traveling across the country to write multiple exams, spending a lot of money for the same and added to this, the mental trauma of the uncertainty surrounding the NEET-PG is unexplainable. I sincerely hope that if this issue is highlighted by the media - maybe the remaining process of solving the problem gets expedited and also hope that the regulatory bodies take this issue with priority and seriousness and solve it and do not create a MESS instead of the NEET in the future.
Supreme Court nod to single CET for medical courses (NEET-PG Medical Entrance Exam))
Posted by DAMS on Thursday, August 4, 2011 Labels: NEET-PG Medical Entrance Exam
DAMS is well prepared to meet any changes if suggested in the pattern of the examination and we are already building mock tests on suggested pattern of 180 questions. Also, we are closely watching out for the final pattern annoucement so that our students are as always on an advantage in this exam. We also emphasize all through the year we have working on our material so that students have that extra edge and we again ensure the students that whatever, may the course pattern AN OBJECTIVE QUESTION IS AN OBJECTIVE QUESTION, our teachers were always clinically oriented, we always make sure that you know how to answer a true-false question. And above all paper will be set up by AIIMS most likely so we dont foresee any drastic change in the character of questions. So watch out for our series of mock tests on this proposed pattern as well as the final patter which will be announced by MCI website by August end.
"According to Deccan Herald and varous news papers in July end 2011, there would now be a common entrance test for admission to undergraduate, post-graduate and super-speciality courses to any medical college in the country. The Supreme Court on Monday gave its nod for a single eligibility-cum-entrance test for MBBS, post-graduate and super-speciality courses. A bench of Justices R V Raveendran and A K Patnaik disposed a bunch of petitions after the Medical Council of India (MCI)statutory body to regulate medical education in the country informed that all necessary rules have been put in place in this regard. The new examination would be called National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate, post-graduate and super-speciality courses. Additional Solicitor General, Amrendra Sharan told the Court that NEET for undergraduates would be held in April/ May 2012 for the academic session 2012-13 while the modalities were being worked out for common entrance test -NEET-PG as examinations are scheduled for January 2012. The core syllabus, the pattern of papers of different subjects for NEET-UG would be made available on the MCIs website by August 2012 for feed back. The modalities to hold common test for super speciality courses were being worked out. This should be available by August end on MCI website. "
Maharashtra : Opposition alleges Rs 266-crore scam in medical admissions- online PTI news.
Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit today admitted that irregularities took place during the admissions to private medical and dental colleges in 2012-13, and said the government will come out with a new regulatory mechanism.
Replying to a discussion on the issue through a calling attention notice in the lower house, the Minister also announced a probe by Chief Secretary.
The issue was raised by senior BJP legislator Devendra Phadanvis who alleged that in 2012-13, 266 seats were given to non-meritorious students. Admissions control committee found that 19 colleges were involved in the irregularities.
"Each seat was sold for Rs one crore, it was a scam of Rs 266 crore and medical education secretary Iqbalsingh Chahal and deputy secretary A B Aatraam were involved," Phadanvis alleged.
But instead of taking action, the state government wrote to Medical Council of India asking whether the recommendations of admissions control committee were mandatory, he said.
Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse alleged that most of these colleges belonged to the ruling Congress-NCP leaders, so the government was trying to shield them.
Gavit admitted that there were irregularities, and said, "Out of 19 colleges, six moved the courts. Therefore, before taking any action, the government has to see whether there are any directives from the courts".

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) has announcing counselling for only Govt. college seats under its control. NEET PG case (T.C.(C)No.98/2012) has been added to the final cause list for February 19. It has been listed as item no. 8 for Court no.1. The court will be in session till 4 pm. The last hearing was on February 14, 2013. Discussions were held across social media forums and websites carrying live updates of the case. One site suggested that it may take another six to seven hearings before NEET PG students can expect a verdict. A verdict can only be reached once the Supreme Court releases a final cause list. The delay in reaching a verdict has led to a lot of stress and uncertainty amongst students who have taken to protests and the social media to express their dismay and anger.
