One of the key features of the PowerEdge 2500 is the ServerWorks® High-End SuperLite (HE-SL) chipset that
supports tri-peer PCI architecture. This enables the server to support three separate bus segments, giving you the
flexibility to segment your high performance PCI cards on two high-speed 64-bit/66MHz busses and lower
performance PCI cards on slower busses for enhanced performance. This architecture also reduces the risk for
system latency associated with bus saturation.
With two-way memory interleaving capabilities, the HE-SL chipset can support twice the peak memory bandwidth
of the previous generation of Serverworks LE-based servers. The PowerEdge 2500 supports set combining, a
chipset feature that sees four same-sized DIMMs as one unit to reduce latency penalties. By incorporating six
DIMM slots, the server ensures two slots are still available for future memory additions even when you take
advantage of set combining.
Availability
The embedded PERC3/Di RAID controller option on the PowerEdge 2500 provides exceptional availability and
makes this system one of the more competitive values in the industry. This embedded high-performance Ultra3
(U160) SCSI solution includes dual RAID channels to help ensure that at least one channel is available at all times.
It also supports write-back caching with a battery backup to protect the cache memory’s content in the event of a
power outage.
The PowerEdge 2500 helps to ensure maximum uptime through availability features such as Error Correction Code
memory and redundant AC power. Additionally, the hot-plug hard drives and hot-plug and redundant fans allow
you to replace components quickly without shutting down the system. The server also includes clustering
capabilities for high fault tolerance.
Easy to Service
Tool-less components and the chassis design enable easy serviceability, whether accessing the server in a rack or
as a stand-alone tower. Because tools are not needed to remove the side-panel cover, access to system
components is quick and easy. The hard drives and hot-plug power are front loading and equally easy to access
by simply opening the hinged front bezel.
The PowerEdge 2500 interior also incorporates tool-less installation and serviceablity. Flip lock retainers secure
I/O cards to the PCI expansion slots, while drives and other media snap easily in place. All peripheral devices,
power supplies, fans, hard drives and memory do not require tools.

4600 introduces a new level of End (GC-HE) chipset that raises the bar for high speed memory access and performance. The PowerEdge 4600
implementation of the chipset provides an incredible 3.2GB/s of memory bandwidth and up to 3.4GB/s of throughput
functionality to the dual-processor
on a five-bus-segment architecture. The chipset also accommodates up to twelve registered DDR (double data rate)
mid-range server market. DIMMs with capacities up to 1GB and four-way interleaved memory architecture for a performance advantage
particularly important in high-end graphic applications environments.
The PowerEdge 4600 also incorporates PCI eXtended (PCI-X) technology, the next generation local I/O standard
that provides high bandwidth and dedicated hardware interfaces between internal chips and peripheral cards that
can result in an overall reduction of system latency time.
The GC-HE chipset contributes several key high availability features to the PowerEdge 4600. In addition to ECC
(Error Correcting Code) memory, the chipset supports ServerWorks Enterprise Chipkill™ technology that helps preserve
customer data and maintain system availability above what ECC can provide. The spare memory bank is an optional
feature that allows customers to designate one memory bank, or four DIMMs, as a spare and the remaining two
banks, or eight DIMMs, as actual system memory. When a pre-defined ECC error threshold is reached, the spare
memory bank copies the data from the faulty bank while the system is running. This maintains server availability
and memory reliability without service intervention. The DIMM(s) in the faulty bank that exceeded the error threshold
can be replaced at the customer's convenience during a scheduled shutdown.
The PowerEdge 4600 offers Dell OpenManage™ with a streamlined, wizard-driven installation for simple management
from the very beginning. Built-in remote management includes full in-service or out-of-service access to the system,
and the completely redesigned 6U chassis is built for data centers, remote offices and networked environments.
PowerEdge 4600 * Versus its predecessor, the PowerEdge 4400.
Furthermore, the PowerEdge 6600 and PowerEdge 6650 are designed to support the next generation of Intel Xeon MP

16GB of double data rate (DDR) SDRAM and support four-way memory interleaving for higher SDRAM bandwidth.
Consequently, you can scale your server memory as application demands increase.
Additionally, the PowerEdge 6600 provides up to twelve internal hard drives that offer as much as 876GB1 of internal
storage. Similarly, the PowerEdge 6650 provides up to five hard drives with a maximum internal storage capacity
of 365GB. Further expandability is provided with eleven I/O slots on the PowerEdge 6600 and eight I/O slots on
the PowerEdge 6650.
PowerEdge 6650
Serviceability
The PowerEdge 6600 and PowerEdge 6650 offer unique modular chassis designed to provide day-in, day-out reliability
and serviceability, which can help lower your total cost of ownership (TCO). Both server models feature tool-less
access to internal components, and the number of cables inside the servers is minimized for further simplicity. Moreover,
the Dell logo on the bezel changes from a blue to an amber caution light if the system encounters a failure. And
to help accelerate diagnosis and repair of the failure, the LCD panel behind the system bezel displays error codes
and text messages further detailing the problem.
The PowerEdge 6600 and PowerEdge 6650 are state-of-the-art enterprise servers that provide high levels of
performance, help maximize uptime and availability, offer expandability, and provide exceptional data protection.

Flexible Performance
To provide affordable performance, the PowerEdge 500SC has a dual ATA-100 Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE)
controller that delivers speeds up to 100MB/s. While the speed is comparable to a SCSI system, ATA-100 costs
less so you save more. For processing power, you may choose either an Intel Pentium® III processor for larger tasks
or an Intel Celeron™ processor for smaller workloads. For optimal performance, the PowerEdge 500SC now features
a SCSI option. This add-in PCI card delivers Ultra3 (UI60) SCSI reliability to the highly affordable PowerEdge 500SC.

Investment Protection
The configuration flexibility of the PowerVault 128T provides incredible investment protection and enables the
tape library to grow with your needs. The PowerVault 128T can be deployed with a single tape drive, either with
LTO or SDLT technologies, for autoloader-type backup applications. It can be configured as a 1X20 autoloader for
workgroups or small departments, and as your backup needs expand, a second tape drive can simply be added to
increase backup throughput and meet more demanding backup requirements.
The PowerVault 128T also gives you the option of moving from an automated LAN-based backup solution to
a SAN-based system with the addition of a 1Gb/s fibre channel router. And with a library mean time between
failures of 100,000 hours, the PowerVault 128T helps protect your equipment investments by providing
outstanding reliability.
Plus, the PowerVault 128T is available in a rack-optimized 5U chassis or as a deskside model so it fits easily
within virtually any environment and is flexible enough to meet your space requirements.

performing pick and place functions. Also, library, drive and mailbox activity can be managed locally with an easy-to-use
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel.
In addition, a mailbox allows you to import and export tape cartridges while backup jobs are in progress. As
a result, the need to re-inventory all tape cartridges in the library is minimized and backup jobs run more efficiently.

The PowerVault 136T also allows you to keep pace with shrinking backup windows. With the ability to scale up
to six LTO or SDLT tape drives, the tape library can reach backup speeds as high as 648GB1/hr with LTO drives or
480GB/hr with SDLT drives.
Furthermore, the tape library is available in a rack-mountable or a stand-alone model to meet a wide variety of needs.
And the 14U form factor can include an embedded 2Gb/s fibre channel router for high performance SAN backups.
Simplified Manageability
The PowerVault 136T Tape Library allows you to easily manage the backup process from anywhere. With the
embedded remote management card, you can access and monitor the library with a Web browser. This card
enables you to perform remote diagnostics, update library drives and library controller firmware, retrieve Service
Action Code (SAC) errors, and perform pick and place functions. Library, drive and mailbox activity can also be managed
locally with an easy-to-use Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel.
Additionally, with the tape library’s mailbox feature, you can import and export tape cartridges while backup jobs
are in progress. Consequently, you do not have to re-inventory all tape cartridges in the library and backup jobs run
more efficiently.
Investment Protection
The PowerVault 136T provides excellent investment protection by incorporating easily into your environment and
offering a variety of options. For example, you can move from an automated LAN-based backup solution to a SAN-based
system simply by adding the 2Gb/s fibre channel router. In addition, the PowerVault 136T can be ordered
with one tape drive and later scaled up to six drives as your backup environment grows. And because the
tape library is designed to tolerate 1,000,000 mean swaps before failure, its reliability and longevity help protect
your investment.
The PowerVault 136T tape library is a powerful automated backup solution with the flexibility and performance
to suit your unique environment.

space-conscious format.
You can build as you grow by adding up to seven PowerVault 224F units behind a single PowerVault 660F subsystem.
And because the PowerVault 224F is the PowerVault 660F disk enclosure without RAID controllers, you can simply
upgrade by adding RAID modules. Ideal for protecting your investment, these enclosures deliver the same
high performance and exceptional manageability as the PowerVault 660F.
Additionally, the PowerVault 660F/224F provides exceptional performance for the price, delivering data transfer
speeds of 165MB/s and 15,000 I/Os per second. Coupled with the Dell direct business model and world-renowned
customer service, the PowerVault 660F/224F represents outstanding value in fibre channel storage.
Rack-Dense Scalability
Offering scalability in an incredibly rack dense form factor, the PowerVault 660F/224F enables you to quickly
respond to the demand for increased capacity. With 14 fibre channel drives, it can store more than a terabyte of data
in a 3U enclosure, and it can store more than 8TB in approximately five square feet of front panel space.
The modular architecture of the PowerVault 660F/224F allows you to cost-efficiently add storage as you need it.
You can start with a minimally configured storage array with one drive and build onto it as your needs change.
In addition, with the Dell Fibre Disk RAID Controller (DFDRC) featured on the PowerVault 660F, you can scale
performance by adding controllers or scale capacity by adding up to 112 disks behind one unit. You can also scale
both simultaneously by adding storage expansion units with single or dual active RAID controllers.
Availability
The PowerVault 660F/224F disk array is designed with reliability in mind making it ideal for applications that requires
maximum uptime. Both the PowerVault 660F and the PowerVault 224F can be ordered with redundant, hot-plug
power supplies and cooling modules to help increase availability.
Furthermore, by deploying the PowerVault 660F/224F in a cluster configuration, you can potentially reduce downtime.
And one of the inherent benefits of a fibre channel solution is it supports several fault-tolerant features such as
combined dual-looping and dual-ported drives that help implement complete I/O redundancy with no single point
of failure.
The PowerVault 660F/224F fibre channel array packs exceptional performance, value, and availability into a rack-dense
format with configuration flexibility.

The advanced data integrity features of the Dell/EMC solution offer reliable data protection, even under adverse
conditions. Write cache is disabled and automatically written to disk in the event of a power failure. End-to-end
checksum provides a mechanism to help protect against data corruption, even after unexpected events occur. Data
parity coherence is designed to protect against the possible inaccuracies that can be created during power outages
and disk failures. And the powerful data scrubbing feature continuously reads blocks of data to help ensure your
data remains in excellent condition.
The Dell/EMC FC5300 storage solution also extends availability protection outside the array with Application
Transparent Failover™ software. Through the software, users have continuous access to information, even in the event
of a failure in one of the data paths between the host and the Dell/EMC FC5300 storage system.
Dell/EMC storage solutions make keeping up with growth easy. As capacity requirements increase, you can add
storage without interrupting service. With storage capacity up to 1.8TB, the Dell/EMC FC5300 storage system can
scale to meet your organization’s specific requirements.
Simplified Management
The Dell/EMC FC5300 storage solution is designed for simplified management so that you can enjoy increased
systems administration staff productivity and reduced overall storage management costs. The robust Navisphere®
storage management software suite enables administrators to easily configure, monitor and tune systems
throughout the organization from a single management console.
And Dell Storage System Remote Monitoring, a standard feature of the Dell/EMC FC5300 storage solution, helps protect

OpenManage also provides complete event management including logging and filtering events based on
user defined criteria, and actions based on filtered events. The proactive event notification includes
alphanumeric paging and e-mail, and the ability to launch applications based on events.
System asset information is also available and includes data such as purchase cost, date of installation, PO

The ability to compile inventory data for a server or a group on the network, into a report for printing or
filing, can be extremely useful. OpenManage features an inventory report function that enables you to
choose the asset(s) for the server or group of interest and print, or export the report to a file for use in
another application.
Dell OpenManage array management enables you to configure and manage local and remote storage
devices attached to a server while the server is online and continuing to process requests. It obtains data
from the storage devices and the logical volumes contained on those devices. The array management tool
displays storage configuration in both a physical and logical view. The physical view shows the physical
connections between the storage devices. The logical view shows a logical representation of your storage.
The array management tool provides a single console for array and volume configuration, from which you
can do the following:
• Create and configure virtual disks (RAID arrays)
• Manage RAID and non-RAID devices
• Create partitions and volumes
• Format disks and create file systems
• Assign drive letters
Today's storage management tools used for configuring and managing storage subsystems can require the
user to have a great deal of knowledge about RAID technology. To lighten this requirement, OpenManage
contains RAID Policies that provide a storage configuration method that is application-based. RAID policies
automate your storage configuration based on which application is being installed.

and facilitates the proper airflow for cooling the installed systems without the need for additional fans.
Dell Rack Mounting Kits – Datacenter managers have more important things to spend time and energy on
than the physical installation of their new server and storage equipment. With this in mind, Dell has developed
an installation kit consisting of the new RapidRail™ mounting arms and tool-less cable management arms.
Both attach easily and quickly to either Dell rack enclosures or all Dell rack-optimized systems to reduce the
time and effort involved in getting new systems into their racks. Captive thumbscrews and self-locking
brackets eliminate the need for tools, and the rails lock in the fully extended installation positions to keep
them in place while inserting the component into them. Velcro straps on the cable management arms make
bundling the system cables as painless as possible, and the folding arm design helps to keep them from
becoming entangled while moving the server between extension positions. Together they make the arduous
tack of physical server and storage component installation a much easier process.
Dell Console Switches – To facilitate the management of multiple servers by a single or dual management

specially designed graphical user interface that operates independent of any system it controls. This allows
for system status operation of any server regardless of the current operational state. Taking up only 1U of
rack space, these switches are a vital part of the overall server management system. Providing constant
power to the rack from multiple sources and protecting the installed components from power spikes is a vital
rack system function. To help accomplish this, Dell offers a flexible Power Distribution Unit, Dual Power Grid
switch, and a variety of Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
