. Job Location: ADMINISTRATOR HOD - PATHOLOGY MEDICAL LAB. SCIENTIST LABORATORY TECHINICIAN LABORATORY ASSISTANT BTHDC-LASUTH, IKEJA

4. Job Purpose: - To perform laboratory investigations and assist in the accuracy of disease diagnosis - Providing a quality service to patients and those requesting test 5. Duties and responsibilities Performs tasks, duties and/or complex tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring) according to established laboratory protocols and procedures. Performs phlebotomies, including arterial puncture, capillary punctures and venipunctures as appropriate for the patient requiring the procedure. Processes specimens utilizing protocols and technical knowledge. Calibrates, standardizes and maintains instruments following established procedures.

Performs quality control, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting protocols to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, procedures. Validates and reports results of tests performed. Delivers patients reports according to times indicated in policy and collection manual. Assists with orientation and teaching students and new employees. Researches and develops new procedures as assigned. Follows established safety practices including biohazards, exposure control plan (blood-borne pathogens), infection control to include universal precautions, employee right to know (hazardous chemicals), and chemical hygiene standard. Promotes effective working relationships and works effectively as part of a department / unit / team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department/units ability to meet its goals and objectives. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a profession Investigates complaints from users of the laboratory and report any observation to the pathologist in charge Liase with the store keeper to take necessary stock inventory and make order when needed 6. Supervisory Control: Directions and instructions from the head of department to follow policies and procedures with the concerned people to be sure that the assigned task is done. 7. Academic and Professional Qualifications: - Minimum qualification: At least 5 years Bachelors degree from a recognized institution (AMLS/BMLS) 8. Professional registration Valid practicing license duely certified by Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria Participating in laboratory clinical meetings Attending seminars, conference and workshops for career improvement

Training Holding monthly clinical meetings with pathologist in charge to discuss interesting test results and findings
