Activity Graphs Sine

This document provides instructions for an activity where students will graph sine functions by marking angles on a unit circle, measuring the corresponding x-values, and connecting points to form the graphs. Students are asked to write angle measurements in radians on the unit circle, mark angles on a string laid on the edge of the circle, lay the string on an x-axis to mark x-values, use spaghetti pieces to measure the x-values from the unit circle corresponding to special angles, and connect the spaghetti pieces to form the graphs.

CHRISTIAN SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL High School Department Mathematics IV: Trigonometry Activity # 1: Sine Graphs Name:___________________________ Section: ___________

Date:________ Score:

Instructions: 1. Write the measurement of the angles (in radians) on the unit circle on the right. 2. Use a piece of string and lay it on the edge of the circle. Mark the location of the special angles on the string with a pen. 3. Place the string on the line below and mark the points for the special angles. 4. Starting with /6, place a piece of spaghetti perpendicular to the x-axis and align it with the angle. Break it off at point of intersection. 5. Place the broken piece of spaghetti on the line below atpoint corresponding to /6. 6. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for all other special angles 7. Connect the tips of the spaghetti with the string
