EE 120 Project Guidelines
Minimum Requirements: Must count down from 30 to 0. There must be a visible display (seven-segment or other, i.e. dual seven-segment display) Pause function: There should be a control mechanism to pause the counting at any time. You must also be able to resume counting. A buzzer/bleeper/sound output when the count reaches zero. LEDs wont suffice, but they may also be included. The project must be standalone; that is, it wont require a heathkit supply, but instead, will use batteries and your own 555 astable clock pulse generator. The project must be mounted on a PCB. Use the universal PCBs available (universal PCBs are those which already have drilled holes and connections). Presentation-must consider aesthetic value (i.e. casing, etc). Optional: Edit function at pause mode, the counter can be preset to a desired value (i.e. if paused at 7, we can reset it to 15 and resume counting from there). Not required, but is a challenge and success will mean additional credit.
Important in documentation: Description of project Pin diagrams of ICs used Schematic diagram. You may use logisim and represent the ICs only with the number of pins; complete IC subcircuits not required but will be given additional points Parts list and pricing Pictures of project (internal circuit, finished product, etc) Problems encountered
Grading will be as follows: Functionality: 60% Aesthetics/presentation: 20% Documentation: 20% Deadline: Day
