Bag Valve Mask Ventilation

This clinical learning guide provides instructions for bag-valve mask ventilation. It outlines 6 steps: 1) choose an appropriately sized bag-valve mask, 2) attach it to an oxygen supply if present, 3) hold the mask over the face with one hand to create a seal, 4) use the other hand to compress the bag, 5) ventilate at a rate of 10 compressions per minute, and 6) look for a rise in the chest. Performance is then assessed as adequately performed, inadequately performed, or not performed.
