TUTORIAL: Clean Installation TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 with MAGLDR

A clean installation resets your phone to a state without any personal data on it. This means you lose your settings, applications and data. The first installation of an Android ROM obviously is a clean installation. On subsequent installations a clean installation may help to avoid problems caused by bad data.

Prerequisites:
1. HSPL 2.08.HSPL installed HOW-TO for HD2 with 512 MB ROM HOW-TO for HD2 with 1024 MB ROM (T-Mobile US) 2. Radio Leo 2.15.50.14 installed

Steps:
1. Preparation a. Load battery to 100% (to avoid running out of power in case of problems) b. Backup contents on your phone using tools appropriate for your system c. Backup contents on your SD card (copy files to a directory on the PC) d. Power off phone e. Make sure your SD card is partitioned properly: It should contain exactly one FAT32 partition, re-partition if necessary (this will erase all data on your SD card), you might use GParted to do so f. Format your SD card (this will erase all data on your SD card): Choose the FAT32 file system and a quick format (there is no need to write all sectors of flash RAM) 2. Erase phone memory (ROM and data) completely a. Power on phone, hold <Volume down> button until the boot loader appears (a screen with red/green/blue/white rectangles) b. Connect phone to PC via USB (use a direct USB link, avoid USB hubs) until "USB appears in the white rectangle c. Run task29.exe on the PC d. Power off phone (remove and reinsert battery if necessary, reconnect to USB) 3. Install MAGLDR a. Power on phone, hold <Volume down> button until the boot loader appears, USB should appear in the white rectangle b. From the PC, flash MAGLDR 1.13 (run ROMUpdateUtility.exe) c. Power off phone (remove and reinsert battery if necessary, reconnect to USB) 4. Install CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery) a. Power on phone, hold <Power> button until the MAGLDR Boot menu appears b. Select option USB Flasher (press <Volume down>, <Volume up> buttons to change menu option, press <Call> button to select) c. From the PC, flash the ClockworkMod Recovery version posted in OP of TyphooN thread (run DAF.exe)

5. Start CWM a. Select option AD Recovery (this will start CWM) b. Wait until ClockworkMod Recovery menu appears 6. Use CWM to copy ROM and packages to SD card a. Select option mounts and storage b. Select option mount USB storage (on the PC a message requesting you to install a driver for ADB might appear, dismiss it) c. If the SD card does not appear as a drive on your PC, unplug the phones USB connection, then reconnect it d. Copy the zip files for ROM (TyphooN_*.zip for MAGLDR as posted in OP of TyphooN thread) and, optionally, kernel and other packages to SD card root directory, e. On the PC, use Safely remove hardware function to disconnect the SD card f. On the phone, select Unmount g. Press <Back> button to return to CWM main menu 7. Use CWM to install ROM and packages from SD card a. Select option install zip from sdcard b. Starting with the ROM, for each package do: i. Select option choose zip from sdcard ii. Select the packages zip file c. Press <Back> button to return to CWM main menu d. Select option advanced e. Select option Fix Permissions f. Press <Back> button to return to CWM main menu g. Select option reboot system now
