covered in BLISc programme of Universities in India. For example, to

1. Foundation of Library and Information Science – library and society,


five laws of library science, etc

2. Information Resources – primary, secondary, tertiary sources, human


and institutional sources, etc

3. Fundamentals of Information Technology and its applications

4. Library classification (theory and practice) – CC, DDC, etc.

5. Library cataloguing (theory and practice) – CCC, AACR etc.

6. Indexing – Chain indexing, relative index, POPSI, etc.

7. Library and information services

8. Library administration, including collection development: book


selection, acquisition, evaluation, etc

9. Elements of Statistics and basics of bibliometrics.
