CSAT SYLLABUS PRELIMINARY PAPER

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours Current events of national and international importance.

Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social sector initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization. General Science. Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills;

History of India and Indian National Movement. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.

Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision-making and problem solving. General mental ability. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level) English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

MAINS PAPER Paper 1- English Comprehension of given passages. Precis Writing Usage and Vocabulary Short Essay Paper 2- Hindi Comprehension of given passages. Precis Writing Usage and Vocabulary. Short Essay Translation from English to the Indian language and vice-versa. Note 1: The Papers on Indian Languages and English will be of Matriculation or equivalent standard and will be of qualifying nature only. The marks obtained in these papers will not be counted for ranking. Paper 3 Essay Candidates will be required to write an essay on a specific topic. The choice of subjects will be given. They will be expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange their ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.
