Forceps are commonly used in both major and minor surgeries. Specifically, Allis tissue forceps are often used for grasping soft tissue or bowel during abdominal surgery or orthopedic procedures. Kelly hemostat forceps are one of the most common surgical forceps, used for grasping soft tissue, blood vessels and bowel. Metzenbaum scissors are also common and used for cutting dense tissue where other scissors may be too delicate.
