INtools main modules links and workflow based on –IN- software previous experience and
new features of the new software.

INtools software is based on ORACLE 7.3 relational database as platform and organised
by modules (as previously provided by –IN-). The relational database doesn’t allow
freezing data; they are always shared within the system tables.
Due to this particular organisation, the workflow has been organised in a way to have
access in editing mode only in one module; the information will be read only for the
remaining modules and for reporting querying tasks.
The workflow personalised in TPIT foresee the following actions, based on the
implementations executed within the STDJB, to be executed in the order described here
below:
(N.B.: data sheets for analyser streams data entry and bulk materials as junction
boxes, cables have not been prepared because the software does not manage these
type of components)
2.2.1.1. Check the instrument types defined as default and eventually update,
modify or delete the useless ones. Each instrument type has been attributed to
a Process function. This definition allows attributing dedicated data using
dedicated editing screens and using the proper data sheet with links to the
database tables.
The default settings are based on ISA conventions as already provided for –IN-
and additional settings as per Leuna project (DIN) have been implemented in
order to cover the needs for such types of projects.
2.2.1.2. Check the instrument type profiles defined as default in order to verify
that the definitions are valid for the actual project.
All the definitions are based on RP-1500 recommendation and on TPIT
standards.
Any different configuration shall be implemented.
Any modification executed in these tables will be propagated to all the tags
defined in the Instrument Index database so all the definitions shall be
prepared before any data entry.

The default forms (CV; PSV; FE;) where is possible to execute calculations using
INtools calculation module, have been prepared to show:
- “internal calculation” (using system fields).
– “Vendor calculation” (UDF fields to be manually filled or imported).
– “Both” (to see and print both calculation results).
INtools calculations have been certified for the main items to be calculated.
The results are consistent with calculations coming from vendors and from others
calculation software.
- The results from control valves calculations have been judged good for preliminary
valve sizing (basic or front end).
– The results from safety valves (if vendor catalogue parameters are applied) have
been judged good for preliminary valve sizing (basic or front end). This way of work is
applied in TP Paris. In TPIT the Process Dpt will calculate in any case the safety
valves and issue the relevant results.
– The results from flow elements have been judged good for final sizing and
purchasing. The relevant data sheets have been prepared both for single item
definition and for multi items definition (SEE LIST); in this case just the main data are
to be filled and the bore diameter imposed.
A set of calculation data sheets shall be issued as engineering document in order to
give evidence of the activity executed.

2.2.6.1. The format and the string definition shall be compatible with the definitions
executed in the instrument type profiles, in the process data UOM, etc.

3. Access rights
Access right to the software have been defined as follows:

The system and project administrator functions are actually covered by the same person due
to the fact that Instrument Dpt co-ordinators have not been trained to cover project
administration tasks.
More then one system administrator could be declared within the software but only one
project administrator could be attributed to the project because the tasks to be executed
require the knowledge of the project status and progress before executing or not some tasks.
For any tasks involving the overall database, the project administrator shall take care that all
the operators lest their connection to the project otherwise certain tasks cannot be executed.
The project administrator shall require to the system administrator the need to activate the
historical function on the project (by default this function is set to off to limit the size of the
database tables).

4.3. Exports
The data available within the database could be used as source for export purpose.
In the STDJB some export reports have been prepared for the tasks already in use with
the software –IN-.
It will be possible to export data to G-mini, REQUI, or any other external database.
The save as function is accessible to any INtools operator; using browsing facilities the
operator can perform any export is required for the project if not already available by
default.

The user can customise the PC station preferences in order to maximise the efficiency. Choose
preference within the project menu to open the InTools preference screen, then click the loop
drawing icon, the following screen appear:
The user can insert, in the block path box, the path of the directory in witch are stored all project
blocks. According to the actual data structure this path is N:\tp_blocks\. Moreover In the Dwg.
path box the user can insert the path of the directory in which the drawings shall be stored after
generation.

The Instrument Index module allows the definition of all parameters related to a specific tag
number (profile) and the view of the related documents as:

Allows defining the status of the tag.
Could be helpful for revamping projects.
This information is visible in the formal instrument index printout.

Allows defining the names of the equipment’s of the plant.
This list could be imported from PDS in case smart P&I are foreseen on the project.

2.3.2. From the incoming screen “ENTER TAG” digit the tag number to be duplicated then
press “OK”.
2.3.3. From the screen “DUPLICATE TAG NUMBER” (if the tag shall be copied within the
same unit) define the new tag name; if the tag shall be copied to another unit the
case “COPY TO ANOTHER UNIT” shall be checked and the target unit selected.
2.3.4. Select “OK” to complete the action.
2.3.5. In addition to the actions described above, the software allows moving tags from
one unit to another following the steps:
2.3.5.1. Select “EDIT”, and check the button “MOVE TAG NUMBER”. From the
incoming screen “ENTER TAG NUMBER” define the tag to be moved and press
“OK”.

The field service shall be limited to 30 characters.
In order to comply with system requirements if the string is longer shall be shorted
trying to maintain the same meaning.

3. Browse
This software function allow defining working/printing formats grouping the database and the
UDF (User definable Field) in order to execute data entry or data sorting including printouts
and export as file.
Each format could be dedicated to particular working tasks (e.g.: Requisition follow-up; DCS
or PLC database definition; etc) and shows the database fields related to a software module.
Whenever information’s coming from several modules shall be grouped in the same format,
one special format (PSR) shall be prepared using Infomaker.
The Browse function include some facilities to edit, filter and query the database in function of
the information’s to be displayed/extracted.
3.1. Multiedit
This option allows editing any tag number stored in the instrument index database.
3.2. View
This option allows defining instrument index working formats filtering the records if
necessary.
3.2.1. Select the icon “VIEW”.
3.2.2. From the screen “BROWSE SETTING”, from the icon “VIEW” select one of the
view already prepared, the relevant style and sort or create a new one following the
steps: select VIEW and then INSERT. From the incoming screen define the fields
and the filters to be used.
3.2.3. Select the button “FILTER” to create or set any filter to database records.
From the incoming screen “EDIT FILTER” select “INSERT”, define the name of the
filter and the filtering parameters. If one of the existing filters shall be modified, press
the “EDIT” button and execute the modifications.
Complete always saving the modification.
3.3. Count
This option allows counting the records presents in the instrument index database or
within the records included in the selected filter.
3.4. Print
This option includes all printing facilities and the function SAVE AS useful to export data to
one external file using one of the most common extension (*.txt; *.xls; *.dbf; etc). It is
possible to edit and modify the header names to be short and adapted to any type of
export. The modified headers could be saved (export) to external file and reused (import)
as they where defined lather on.
3.5. Log
3.6. Documents
This option allows referring one record (tag number) to one external file containing
drawings, particular requirements or notes.
3.7. Copy
This function allows copying records to the buffer.
3.8. Paste
This function allows paste the information’s (data) previously stored with Copy function.

3.9. Refresh
This option allows refreshing the screen every time changes has been executed and
saved into the database.
3.10. Delete
This option allows deleting the selected records in Browse mode.
3.11. Search
This option allows searching and locate a record within the database using the tag number
as search key.
3.12. Remarks
This option allows inserting notes attached to each record of the database.

3.14. Associate
This option allows associating or dissociating tag numbers to loops following the steps:
3.14.1. Select the icon “ASSOCIATE”, then from the incoming screen “ENTER LOOP
NUMBER”.
Digit the name of the target loop or press the “SEARCH” buttons to find the tag
number.
Select the tag number and press the “DISSOCIATE” button to separate the tag from
the loop.
Select the tag number and press the “ASSOCIATE” button to attach the tag to the
loop, or press the “SEARCH” button to select the tag number to be associated. From
the screen “ASSOCIATE LOOP – TAG NUMBER” select again the tag number and
press the “ASSOCIATE” button. The software checks that the same tag is not
associated to several loops; warning messages will be displayed in case of wrong
association. The tag shall be dissociated from the previous loop before the
association to the new one.
3.15. Preferences
When the Index module is open in browse mode, the following drop-down lists (located on
top of the screen) have more active functions.

4.3. After any new software release installation or changes, the REBUILD stored procedures
routine shall be run.
The project administrator shall execute this routine.
Defining a default device panel with more than one terminal strip, or a default cable with more
than one set, may cause mistakes in the creation of the device panel and its connections to the
instrument using the profile of the instrument type. INtools connects only the first set of the cable
to the first terminal strip of the device panel ignoring all the other sets or strips.

Process data can be defined or imported either per Line or per Instruments as follow:
1. P.D. Lines
These data can be imported from PDS, LDL (or other source) in automatic mode (see
IMPORT utilities) in case smart P&I are used for the project execution.
In case P.D. for the lines shall be defined manually, the following steps are to be executed:
1.3. Select one of the defined line types from the drop-down list beside the line type button.
The buttons of the screen will become actives and it will be possible to add or modify the
lines.
If one line shall be deleted, it shall be done from the Index module following the steps:
Index à Tables à Line numbers à Select Line à DELETE
Additional
This additional screen allows defining additional process or design data.

Base
This additional screen allows the definition of base conditions as pressure, temperature
and density.
Remarks
This additional screen allows the addition of notes to the line.
Revision
This screen allows the revision management per line
à To check and define the external revision management
Report
This screen allows to see, print and “save as” the data with possibilities to highlight the
changes.
The function “save as” allows the export of the data on any common format as: Text,
Excel, Dbf, etc.
3. WARNING
INtools does not accepts defining more than one diameter per each line number.
In order to overcome the problem, the line number shall contain the size within the string as
follows:

In case the instrument index and/or the line list are imported from external sources, the
operator shall verify that the line number defined in the instrument index is equal to the one
defined in the Process data.

P.D. Instrument
These data can be:
- imported from Lines (already imported from PDS or LDL or other external source ; see previous
paragraph) in automatic mode for all IN-LINE instruments not requiring additional specific data;
- imported from ZYQAD in automatic mode (see IMPORT utilities) in case this process tool is used
for the project execution. The import from Zyqad will be possible only if the instrument tag list has
been previously exported to this tool (see EXPORT utilities) in order to obtain the unique ID
generated from INtools useful for all import/export routines.
In case P.D. for the instruments shall be defined manually, the following steps are to be
executed:

4. External revision
The external revision management is common to LINES and INSTRUMENTS data; the
operator shall take care of the correct definition of these parameter before the formal printouts
of data export (save as).

The external drawing management is common to LINES and INSTRUMENTS data; the
operator shall take care of the correct definition of these parameter before the formal printouts
of data export (save as).

For any calculation type the appearance of the screens containing the data is equal to the
screens appearing on P.D. module (please refer to the dedicated paragraph for details).
Any data changed in the calculation module is changed into P.D. module (UNIQUE DATA); the
operator shall take care of the changes and shall get the approval from the project co-ordinator
before any definitive change.
The buttons and screens equal to P.D. module are not described again; the additional functions
are described per calculation type:

The function of all buttons is equal to the ones of control valves calculations.
Problems:
1- on calculation results the orifice diameter is in “Inches” instead of “Millimetres” as usual. The
only possibility to obtain the orifice diameter in MM is to define the Line in MM during project UOM
definition.
2- Calculation method shall be verified. ISO-5167 or MILLER could be used in function of the
orifice type.
3. Relief Valve
The function of all buttons is equal to the ones of control valves calculations.
Problems:
1- manufacturer catalogues not available within the software (as previously with –IN-) so
the operator shall know the valve parameters and factors for a more accurate calculation.
These parameters are available in any manufacturer catalogue.
4. Thermowell
The function of all buttons is equal to the ones of control valves calculations.

The specification module allows defining and fulfils all data sheets necessary for the main
requisitions activities.
Instrument components as: JB’s; Panel boards; Cables; and all bulk materials shall be managed
in different way.
Warnings
A. The standard forms for CV (spec. 922); PSV (spec. 924); FE (spec. 925); allows selecting the
data to be printed for calculation results.
– INTERNAL prints the results of the calculations coming from INtools calculation module.
– EXTERNAL prints the results of calculations coming from Vendors (manual data entry).
– BOTH prints either INTERNAL and EXTERNAL results.
The working tasks are resumed within drop-down list or icon buttons as follows:
1.3. Sheet
Allows using the screen useful for the selection of the item and to the form to be used for
data filling.

1.3.1. The options “Delete” allows deleting specification sheets already prepared or
delete default format (SEE LIST) from spec’s.
1.5. Action
1.5.1. Print function
Allow printing the data sheets already prepared within the software. Several
possibilities could be selected to speed-up this task.
1.5.2. Change Master
Allows attributing one tag as MASTER of one multi-items data sheet.
1.5.3. Title Block
Function not used up to now.
1.5.4. Associate Title Block
Function not used up to now.
1.5.5. Regenerate format
Allows regenerating multiple items list formats.
1.5.6. Unload forms
(function reserved to project administrator)
1.6. Options
1.6.1. History options
If History is set ON to the project, History options allows selecting the data changes
from / to defined date displayed / printed in predefined colours.
1.6.2. Mark changes
Allows displaying the changes in the spec. forms as indicated in 1.6.1
1.7. Tools
1.7.1. Global Revision
Allows defining / upgrading one global revision index including revision description for
a selected spec. sheet or document.

These icons allows executing the main functions for data editing / importing to spec. forms
and allows defining FORMATS (See List).

Attention to the instrument type definitions!!
If data sheet form has been defined as default in the instrument type profile, the software don’t
allows creating multiple items specifications (SEE LIST).
In that case from PROJECT drop-down list select preferences and from the profile eliminate the
default specification.

Wiring module allows defining and managing several type of panels (instruments; junction
boxes; cabinets; etc) and the relevant wire connections, using cable set to be defined
within the same module.
The working tasks are resumed into drop-down list or buttons as follows:
Selecting wiring icon allows opening the ‘main wiring module’ window. In the top-left side of this
screen, the user can see four icons (project panels; default panels; project cables; default
cables). Checking one of these icons (e.g.: project panel or cable icon), will open the project
panel or project cable screen.
To open a second screen (e.g.: default panel or cable) maintaining open the previous one,
double-click on the appropriate icon.
1.1. Project
Same definition’s stated within instrument index module.
1.2. Module
Allows selecting the various software modules. These functions are repeated in the buttons
(top side).
1.3. Action
This drop-down list becomes active when one or more of the tasks displayed in the wiring
screen (panels / cables) (default / project) are checked and allows executing the following
tasks:
1.3.1. Add New
Allows adding a new device panel or cable by category.
Defining a new terminal strip configuration.
1.3.1.1. Creating a new panel
This option allows creating a new panel either within the default panel manager,
or in the project panel manager. All the panels within the default panel manager
could be used within the project panel manager using the drag and drop
functions available within the software. This action will duplicate all definition’s
executed within the default to be applied for any device created for the project.
To create a new panel, with the default (project) panel manager open, perform the
following actions:
1.3.1.2. From the action menu select add new, to open the panel screen
1.3.1.3. Define the panel type (device panel, junction box, etc…) selecting the
appropriate panel category button
1.3.1.4. Insert the other information’s in the appropriate boxes (type, manufacturer,
etc…)
1.3.1.5. If the new panel is required to meet the IS certification, choose yes button in
the pertinent field
1.3.1.6. Click ok to exit the panel screen

To edit a panel the user must highlight on the panel manager the needed panel, and then
click the edit button on the main wiring toolbar to open the appropriate panel screen, in
witch he can insert the new data.
To edit an existing cable the user must highlight the needed cable on the cable manager and
then click the edit button on the main wiring toolbar to open the cable screen, in witch he can
insert the new data
1.3.2. Add
Allows adding a new terminal strip of device panels. The same function can be activated
from bottom icon.
1.3.2.1. Adding a strip to a panel
To add a strip to a panel, on the default (project) panel manager, perform the
following actions:
1.3.2.1.1. Highlight a panel on the panel manager
1.3.2.1.2. Click add on the main wiring toolbar to open the terminal strip
configuration screen
1.3.2.1.3. Choose an existing terminal strip configuration in the strip config. name
box. If the user don’t find any terminal strip configuration that satisfies him,
then he must create it (see Error! Reference source not found.. Error!

1.3.2.1.4. Click create to open the strip screen
1.3.2.1.5. Insert the appropriate data in the strip screen and click ok
1.3.2.1.6. Click ok on the terminal strip configuration screen to exit
To edit a terminal strip the user must highlight on the panel manager the needed strip, and
then click the edit button on the main wiring toolbar to open the strip screen, in witch he
can insert the new data.

To edit an existing cable configuration the user must search on the cable
configuration box the needed cable configuration, and then click the edit
button on the bottom side of the screen to allow him to edit the selected
cable configuration

Actually the software don’t allow defining the polarity of each cable
set.
To edit a set the user must highlight on the cable manager the needed
set, and then click the edit button on the main wiring toolbar to open the
cable set screen, in witch he can insert the new data
To edit a wire the user must highlight on the cable manager the needed
wire, and then click the edit button on the main wiring toolbar to open the
wire screen, in witch he can insert the new data
1.3.3. Edit
Allows editing a new terminal strip of device panels. The same function can be
activated from bottom icon.
1.3.4. Duplicate
Allows duplicating existing device panel or cable.
1.3.5. Expand
Allows expanding the device panel or cable definitions up to the single core or to the
single terminal.
1.3.6. Collapse
Allows reducing to single record the items previously expanded.
The actions described hare above are duplicated within the button icons located
bottom side.

To edit an existing connection type, search for it on the connection type box, and then
click the edit button. This action allows the user to edit the selected pattern.
1.3.8. Connections
To connect a cable on a panel, perform the following actions:
1.3.8.1. In the project panel manager highlight the panel on witch must be made the
connection.
1.3.8.2. Click the connection button to open the connection screen.
1.3.8.3. Click the cable icon to open/close the project cable manager without closing
the connection screen.
1.3.8.4. In the cable manager search for the appropriate cable, then drag and drop it
onto the terminal where you want to make the first connection, note that at this
point the cable connection definition screen is open.
1.3.8.5. In the box on the right side of the screen, choose the connection type for
each set of the cable, and the appropriate cable side (1 or 2). Cable, panel and
strip names are just inserted on the appropriate boxes.
1.3.8.6. Click connect to accept the definition
Note that at this point on the connection screen appears the names of the cable, sets and
tag number associated to the chosen cable.

1.3.9.4. To associate a device panel to an instrument, the user must click the create
button (after having highlighted the needed instrument) on the bottom toolbar,
to open the create device panel and cable screen.
1.3.9.5. In the create device panel and cable screen choose the default panel and
cable, and the appropriate connection type.
1.3.9.6. Click ok to return on the device panel screen in witch the new device panel
will be displayed.
1.3.9.7. To link an existing panel to an instrument, highlight the needed instrument,
and click link to open the select device panels screen, in witch the user can
choose the appropriate panel.To unlink a panel from its instrument, highlight the
needed panel and then click unlink (note that the panel name will be modified
by the insertion of a question mark at its beginning)
1.4. Association
Allows associating terminal strip and cable to device panels. The tasks available are the
following:
- Connections
- Connection types
- I/O assignment
- Cross wiring
- Rename device cables
The actions described here above are duplicated within the button icons located bottom
side.
1.5. Hardware
Allows executing the same tasks indicated within the “Wiring” screen:
1.5.1. Cables (Project; Default)
1.5.2. Panels (Project; Default)
1.5.3. Device panel name

1. Introduction
Before beginning to work with the In Tools loop drawing module, the user must obtain some
graphical blocks in another CAD application (such as AutoCAD1 or MICROSTATION), because In
Tools use them to construct the complete loop drawings. Note that it must be paid attention to
correctly choose the insertion point of any block, otherwise the loop drawing generation will be
incorrect. To allow the user to insert the same blocks in many different drawings, In Tools make
use of a certain number of ‘macros’, that will be replacing, during the drawings generation, by the
current project data (tag numbers, revision, and so on).
2. DATA STRUCTURE
The graphic blocks prepared to create loop drawings are stored in the N:\tp_blocks directory,
containing three subdirectories (DIN, ISA and reference). Each subdirectory is divided in three
additional subdirectories: field (field instruments), general (border and logo) and room (control
room components). Within the DIN subdirectory are stored the graphic blocks according to DIN
format; within ISA subdirectory are stored the graphic blocks according to ISA format. Within the
reference subdirectory are inserted all blocks in a specific format (ISA or DIN) to be used as
default for specific project. In function of the needs the project co-ordinators will copy into the
reference subdirectory the blocks to be used for the loop generation. In case several projects
shall generate loops in the same time using different formats, all the blocks will be copied to
separate directory and all references to them changed within the project.
3. BLOCK ASSOCIATION
According to the actual data structure, five block types has been created. Each one contains a
particular class of blocks as follows:
- Border : borders for the drawings in DIN, ISA and Reference format.
- Logo : logos for the drawings in DIN, ISA and Reference format.
- DIN : graphic blocks in DIN format
- ISA : graphic blocks in ISA format
- Reference : graphic blocks in the reference format
The standard job contains a full set of complete loops per each format (ISA; DIN).
The std unit contains loops where graphic blocks has been manually associated as follows:
• All loops using the number “1” as first digit of the numeric part are associated to blocks in DIN
format.
• All loops using the number “2” as first digit of the numeric part are associated to blocks in ISA
format.

Warning: because InTools has been projected to work with AUTOCAD 13.0, if the user is working with
AutoCAD 14.0 he must install on his system the file DDELISP.EXE keeping it manually from the AutoCAD
13.0’s files, otherwise InTools will not be able to generate any drawing and then, during the generation,
display a message in witch warn the user that this problem has occurred also remaining on a ‘freeze’ state

The user shall define the way to execute the data entry then delete all loops useless and using
the function “Copy Loop” from the Std Unit to the project unit. This way of work allows keeping all
definitions already defined and tested for the reference loops.
As an alternative the user can utilise the default associations between instrument types and
graphic blocks, already implemented. In that case, the user cannot use the definitions provided
within the std unit in order to avoid overriding of the information’s. The std unit in that case shall
be deleted.
In case the std unit is used, the user shall detach all the default blocks from the instrument types.
To obtain maximum flexibility all the associations has been created using the reference blocks
(the reference blocks directory may contain DIN or ISA blocks).
Some differences between DIN and ISA blocks shall be managed during the project life.
Limit and level switch are two different instruments using the same graphic block (named
ZSH.dwg). The only difference is the position attributed in the drawing sheet. The level switches
appear in the first three rows from the top of the drawing, while the limit switch appear in the last
three rows.
The blocks: ZSH1.dwg; ZSH2.dwg; ZSH3.dwg; represents level switches.
The blocks: ZSH4.dwg; ZSH5.dwg; ZSH6.dwg; represents limit switches.
To insert a ‘macro’ in an AutoCAD drawing it must be set the system AutoCAD variable
AFLAGS=8,and then the user must perform the following actions at the AutoCAD command line
prompt:
At this point in the AutoCAD drawing appear the ‘macro’ name as a conclusion of macro inserting
procedure (to obtain a complete list of the In Tools ‘macro’, see: 7 obtaining the full ‘macro’ list).

To start the loop drawing manager, click the loop button on the main In Tools toolbar to open the
‘main loop drawing module’ window.
To obtain a complete list of the ‘macro’ that In Tools place at user disposal, perform the following
actions:
7.1. click the macro def. Button on the loop drawing toolbar to open the macro definition
screen
7.2. highlight a macro group on the ‘macro groups’ column
7.3. highlight a macro type on the ‘macro type’ column
7.4. highlight a macro attribute on the ‘macro attribute’ column
at this point, in the bottom screen, it can be seen, in the ‘description’ column, a brief description of
the action that the chosen macro perform, while in the ‘In tools macro name’ column and in the
user macro name column, there is the standard macro name.
8. ‘Macro’ Customising.
The In Tools ‘macros’ cannot be modified by the user, witch is only authorised to duplicate a
current ‘macro’ and to rename it. To customise the new macro the user can attach to it a user
function for bit manipulation (see: 10 defining user function). Note that the original ‘macro’ is not
affected after the ‘macro’ duplication.
in the macro definition screen it can be seen the new user ‘macro’ with its new name in the user
macro name column. Note that, in this case, in the AutoCAD instrument block drawings the user
must type the user macro name (not the standard macro name).

To insert ‘macros’ that point to the fields of an external file, the user must define an appropriate
connection type, and then he has to indicate to the software the external file name. Note that it
must be paid attention to the format of the external file.
9.1.1. in the action pop-up menu select external macro connection to open the define
external macro source screen
9.1.2. select the appropriate DBMS in the DBMS box
9.1.3. select the appropriate driver in the profile name box
9.1.4. click on the directory icon to open the select external macro source directory
screen to select the directory in witch the software can find the user external file
To insert the file name in the drawing menu of each loop that make use of an external file,
perform the following action:
9.2.1. Select a loop that contain blocks with macros that point to an external file
9.2.2. Click the drawing button in the main toolbar to open the loop drawing screen
9.2.3. Click the external macro button to open the select external macro source screen
9.2.4. Type the file name in the macro source field of the screen and then click ok button
to confirm
9.3.1. Each macro name starts with ‘_’ (underscore), followed by the actual field name of
the source dbf file, in witch is stored the needed information

9.3.2. the dbf table must contain a field named cmpnt_name (that is the research key of
the database)
9.3.3. the macro insertion procedure in AutoCAD doesn’t change (see 5. To insert ‘macro’
in AutoCAD drawings.)
9.3.4. on generation, in the generate loop screen, check the use external checkbox
9.3.5. to look at the structure of the external file, see the file extDBF_fields.pdf
9.3.6. to see the location of the external macros in each graphic block that we have

10.1.1. in the tables pop-up menu, choose user function to open the user defined

To assure a good organisation of data, InTools allows the user to define some block types to
witch he can associate the blocks that will be created. It can be defined two categories of block
types, general blocks and component blocks. The two default general blocks, border and logo,
must be defined as general block types.

to edit a block type, the user must highlight it in the block type screen, and then click edit button
to open the edit block type screen, in witch he can edit the block type acting like in the new block
type screen. Moreover clicking delete button in the block type screen, after having highlighted a
block type name, it will be deleted. Note that the two default general block types (logo an border)
cannot be deleted (In Tools don’t allow it!)
12.1.1. click blocks button on the loop drawing toolbar to open the blocks screen

To edit an existing block highlight it on the blocks screen and then click edit button to open the
edit block screen in witch the user can act like in the new block screen. To delete a block the user
must highlight it and then click delete button on the blocks screen. Note that it can be displayed
the AutoCAD drawing associated to a single block directly in the blocks screen, simply clicking
view button in the same screen.

To clear a current association between an instrument type with its block, the user must highlight
them in the attach block to an instrument type screen, and then click the detach button.
When a block is associated with an instrument type, all the instruments that in the instrument
index module were defined of the same type, will be automatically associated with the same block
(see also 14 selecting a loop).
14.1. click select loop button on the loop drawing toolbar to open the enter loop number

14.3. click search button to open the search screen (obviously if the user knows the loop
number that he are searching, he can insert this number directly in the appropriate box,

At this point appears on the screen the loop drawing manager, with the icons representing the
loops that have been chosen. A double click on a loop icon allows the user to expand the loop in
the succeeding level, in which there are the loop instruments (note that another double click on
the same icon collapses the loop icon to the original situation). With a double click on an
instrument icon, it’s possible to expand the loop manager tree at the third level, where it can be
seen all the blocks connected to each instrument. Note that these blocks are displayed in two
different colours, green or red. Blocks assigned by instrument type are displayed in green, on the
other side blocks assigned manually (see: 15 manually connecting a block to an instrument) are
displayed in red.
Block’s manual assignment to an instrument directly in the loop drawing manager, is very simple,
in fact the user only must expand the chosen loop icon at the instrument level, and then must
perform the following actions:
15.1. highlight the instrument icon to witch the user want to assign a block manually
15.2. click connect button on the loop drawing toolbar to open the add block to
instrument screen

Note that, after the connection, a new block icon (in red colour) appear linked to the instrument
icon.
Block’s manual disconnection from an instrument is already very simple; in fact the user must
perform the following actions:
17. Drawing
To insert data such as number of sheets, drawing reference, approvals and revision, the first
action is to select a loop on the loop drawing manager, and then click drawing button on the loop
drawing toolbar to open the loop drawing screen.
With the loop drawing screen open, perform the following actions:

18.1.1. in the loop drawing manager highlight the loop that the user want to generate
18.1.2. click generate button on the loop drawing toolbar to open the generate loop
screen
18.1.3. choose the appropriate option in the generate loop screen
18.1.4. click ok button
It can observe that, at this point, In Tools call AUTOCAD to generate the complete loop drawing.
After the drawing generation, it can be seen that the ‘macros’ contained in the instrument blocks
drawings are replaced by the project data.
Viewing a loop drawing without generating it, is possible performing the following actions:
18.2.1. in the loop drawing manager highlight the loop that the user want to view
18.2.2. click view button on the loop drawing toolbar
Note that, in this case, AUTOCAD display the loop drawing without replacing the ‘macros’ with
any project data.

This facility allows the user to generate a loop drawing without using any external CAD
application.
To modify some project data, the user can do it directly in the SmartLoop generator screen,
performing the following actions:
19.2.1. move the cursor on the text line marked with grey colour
19.2.2. when the cursor assume a pen’s form, click the mouse button
19.2.3. an appropriate screen, according to the data type selected, will be opened,
allowing the user to insert the desired changes
