Research Methodology: Assigned Team: Natasha Verma Mohini Kanawade & Shirkant Sarode

The researcher studied factors that contribute to successful recovery of cancer patients. She identified three important variables: early and correct diagnosis by doctors, nurses carefully following doctors' instructions, and peace and quiet in the patient's vicinity. While these factors helped patients recover sooner, some patients admitted in advanced stages of cancer did not respond well to treatment even when these factors were present.

Define the problem and develop the
theoretical framework for the following
situation
 The probability of cancer victims successfully
recovering under treatment was studied by a
medical researcher in a hospital. She found three
variables to be important for recovery:
 Early and correct diagnosis by the doctor
 The nurse’s careful follow-up of the doctors
instructions
 Peace and quiet in the vicinity
Problem continued…

In a quiet atmosphere the patient rested well and

recovered sooner.
Patients who were admitted in advanced stages of
cancer did not respond to treatment even though
the doctors diagnosis was performed immediately
on arrival, the nurses did their best, and there was
plenty of peace and quiet in the area.
Definition of problem
 What are the factors that contribute to successful
recovery of cancer patients?

Or

 How can recovery of cancer patients be made

successful?
Solution

Early and correct

Diagnosis
Staff attitude
Recovery of cancer Proper Follow-up
patients

Peace and quiet

vicinity
Advanced
stages
Justification
 Dependant variable- it is the main point in the
problem being discussed
 Independent variables- all the independent
variables affect the dependant variable and can
cause it to change correspondingly
 Moderating variable- causes a change in the
relationship between the DV and IV
 Temporal variable- is contingent on one or more
independent variables
