Friendly Letter 2

The student wrote a letter describing how using "power words" when reading a book about the Titanic helped them better understand and get more information from the book. The power words pointed out details and allowed the student to notice information they otherwise would have missed. Using the power words was like being "buried in the book" and helped the student comprehend passages they initially did not understand. The student finds power words a helpful tool for understanding books and will continue using them in other classes.

Dear to whom is reading this,

In my book Eyewitness Titanic the power words helped me because once I used the power words I understood
the book a little bit more. Also I saw more than if I would not have used them. I got more out of the book and I saw
more detail. The power words were very helpful and are very helpful because they point stuff out to you then if you
didn͛t use them. If I would not have used the power words then I would not have noticed some of the information in
the book so because I used the power words I got more out of the book then if I didn͛t use the power words.
The power words are very helpful tool because they help you understand the book more and be able to get
something out of the book. With the power words you look more into the book it͛s almost like you͛re buried in the
book. That͛s why the power words are helpful. Like when I was reading the top paragraph I didn͛t understand
something I would look at again and then I would use the power words then I would understand and before I started
using the power words I didn͛t really understand most things I was reading.
When I am in other classes I use the power words because they help me get through the story knowing what I
should know and help me get things out of the story that I should be getting out of the story.
