Tutorial - Classroom Action Research

Classroom action research (CAR) aims to systematically study and improve one's own teaching practice through cycles of planning an action, implementing it, observing its impact, and reflecting on the results. The goal is to better understand one's class and enhance student learning. CAR involves collecting and analyzing objective data on the action and its effects. Classroom Action Research

(CAR)

Classroom : Because the class was conducted in our own


Action : Because that is the action we examined
Research : As we do research, not just writing, including our actions even.

The Goal and Characteristics:


Destination:
To better understand the class and improve our performance with the class how to
collect data systematically

Characteristics:
• Collecting data that this is a systematic discrimination CAR than just write a
paper or remedy
• Using the principles of reflective

Systematic
This means that before the research began
• what the data will be collected
• when collected
• where the data source
• how to collect
• how often to collect, and
• how to make and analysis
• be designed first

The Two Important In CAR


Action
Efforts to dig up ways to act (action) in the best class that can generate a situation of
learning is better for themselves, and study the situation is better for our students

Research
With a way to do a systematic investigation activities through the collection and
analysis of data carefully, accurate, and objective evidence obtained so that effective
action we do.

Notes
• Cycle in CAR will continue to be repeated so that I give the best results
• Results will be seen from the best indicator of success
• Cycle can be long (for 1 or 2 semesters) or short (only a few meetings)

Why CAR
• With regard to our own problems, not others
• It is a way to gain greater control of our learning practices
• Bringing to the study and a better learning
• Allows make a strong relationship collegial

The Four Fundamental in CAR


1. Developing a Plan of action to improve what has been happening:
• should be forward
• Must be a strategic
2. ACTION to make the plan:
• and should be manageable
• should take place according to time and is designed to overcome the real
obstacles
• can have negotiations and compromise
3. Conducted the impact of such action:
• should be planned
• Being the basis for a critical self-reflection
• should be open
4. Doing reflection against the impact of all this as the basis for the planning cycle
and the next:
• should keep in mind actions
• issue should understand the situation and
• Must be able to decide whether the impact such expectations or not

Two Types CAR


1. Exploratory
Type of action that will answer the questions still need to be extracted (there is no
picture at all)
2. Confirmative
1, 2a, 2b, 2c, ... 3a, 3b, 3c, ... designed to⁄Plan of action improve the action had
already been prepared, confirmed live (in accordance with the results of the
reflection) to action to the indicator of success can be achieved.

CAR Vs Teaching Remedial


• Teaching Remedial: Performing result of a child more familiar.
• CAR: Conducting research results of knowledge about the form of research
reports.

CAR VS experiment
• Have the same treatment / action
• Experiment: a) Treatment / action is considered correct. b) Researchers have
been considered in the advanced treatment page. c) Treatment only one run
and only one kind of.
CAR
• Treatment / action is still searching for the most correct
• There are many different between the treatment cycle
• Researchers are still investigating the best way for finding.
