FORMULA SHEET

(UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME)
To be use for Open Entry Entrance Test (Mathematics Test)

1. Algebraic Expressions

Expansions of algebraic expression:

a(b + c) = ab + ac
(a + b)(c + d) = ac + ad + bc + bd
(a + b)2 = a 2 + 2ab + b 2
(a – b)2 = a 2 – 2 ab + b 2
(a + b)( a – b) = a 2 – b 2

Reminder
a + (b – c) = a + b – c
a – (b – c) = a – b + c
a – (b + c) = a – b – c

3. Linear Inequalities

1. Inequality is the relationship between two unequal quantities.

2. Notation Definition
a>b a is greater than b
a≥b a is greater than or equal to b
