Scribes and Dictators - "Activity": Skill 1.7 - Order of Operations

In teams of two students, one student will act as the scribe to write down math problems while the other acts as the dictator to solve the problems by telling the scribe what to write. The students will alternate roles after each problem so that each student gets a turn as both the scribe and dictator. They will work through a series of math equations with one student scribing in the left column and the other scribing in the right column.

Scribes and Dictators – “Activity”
Directions:
In teams of two, one person will be the scribe and the other person will be the dictator. Half way
through the activity you will switch. The scribe’s role is to write the problem and the dictator’s
job is to solve it by telling the scribe what to write. Each student will do half the problems as
scribe and half the problems as dictator. Alternate roles after every questions.

The column on the left is for one person to be the scribe and the column on the right is for your
partner to be the scribe.
