FAQ

CANON IP1200/IP1300/IP1600/IP1700/IP1880/1980(PG-830/
CL-831,PG-40/CL-41)

Q1. Yellow light on the printer keep blinking 3 times and 1 time green,
A. Mechanical error,for those using CISS,properly is piping problem.Open the cover and adjust
the piping until it can run smoothly and not block by any part of the printer.

Q2. Yellow light on the printer keep blinking 4 times and 1 time green,or 8 times and
1 time green
A. Ink absorber full,need to reset using general tools,please refer to our CD given and read the
instruction to reset it.

A. Ink absorber full, need to reset. Manually reset is press and hold the resume button for
2minutes then release it.Turn off the printer and on again, the printer will back to normal.

Q3. Yellow light on the printer keep blinking 5 times and 1 time green, or 7 times
and 1 time green
A. Black or color cartridge running out of ink.Press and hold the resume button for 5-10second
then release it to reset the cartridge.(Do 1 time for black and 1 time for color only.After
reset,the computer will not warn you again).

Q4. Yellow light on the printer keep blinking 12 times and 1 time green, or 15 times
and 1 time green
A. Cartridge detection error. Hold and press the resume button for 5-10 second.If this cannot
work mean you need to change your cartridge.(refer to you computer see whether black or
color cartridge need to replace)

A. Cartridge detection error. Maybe the ink overflow until the ink spread on the circuit which
contact with printer. Take out the cartridge and clean the circuit with wet tissue then again
with dry tissue. Repeat this step for the cartridge placing point.

Q5. The computer shown that “Service error 5100”


A. 5100 means the carriage is not moving properly, or there is grease or ink on the encoder strip
The encoder strip is the clear strip with black lines behind the carriage that runs all the way
across the printer. You can clean the strip with a Q-tip just damp with water
A. For those using CISS,Maybe the piping cause/block the cartridge carriage.Mean you need to
adjust the pipe till the cartridge carriage move smoothly and not blocking by the piping.

Q6. The computer shown that “absorber is full and need to reset”
A. Manually reset is press and hold the resume button for 2minutes then release it. Turn off the
printer and on again, the printer will back to normal.

Q7. Printer keeps paper jamming when i go to print. I clear the jam, reset and the

printer will push through one piece of paper without printing then the next piece

jams again
A. For the CISS user, when the cartridge carriage move to the left of the printer,it affect by the
piping which installed too long or short. Adjust the piping length until you solve the paper jam
problem.

A. That happens when there is either a timing problem in the feed assembly, when you pull out a
jam sometimes the gear timing can get offset, also a bent or broken sensor arm. Should have a
shop take a look for you.

RESETTING INK ABSORBER PROCEDURES


Canon Pixma iP1200, iP1300, iP1500, iP1880, iP1980
Error5B00 : The ink’s absorber is full.
Procedure:
1.) Plug the power cord and the USB cord.
2.) ON your printer.
3.) Press and hold the power button. (Do not release until step 7.)
4.) Remove the power cord.
5.) After 5 seconds, insert or return the power cord in its socket.
6.) Press the reset / resume button for two times. (Reset / resume button located below the power
Button.)
7.) Release the power button.
8.) Press the reset/resume button for 4 times.

CANON MP198/MP145/150/160/170/180 (PG-830/CL-831,PG-40/CL-41)

ERROR CODE

E2-2 = No paper (ASF)


E3-3 = Paper jam
E4 = No ink
E5-5 = The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed, or the ink cartridges are
not installed properly
E8 = Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full
E9 = The connected digital camera / video camera does not support Camera Direct Printing
E14 = The Ink cartridges whose destination are wrong
E15 = Ink cartridge is not installed E16 – Ink remaining is unknown
E16 -E19 = Failed to scan head alignment sheet
E22 = Carriage error
E23 = Paper feed error
E24 = Purge unit error
E25 = ASF(cam) sensor error
E26 = Internal temperature rise error
E27 = Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
E28 = Ink cartridge temperature rise error -
E29 = EEPROM error
E33 = Paper feed position error
E35 15 = USB Host VBUD overcurrent error – USB
E37 17 = Abnormal motor driver error
E40 20 = Other hardware error
E42 22 = Scanner error

Q1. E2-2 = No paper

E3-3 = Paper jam (ASF)


A. For Ciss user, this properly causing by the piping jam/block by the part in the printer.Try to
readjust the length of pipe and make sure the pipe running smoothly left and right and try
again.

A. Maybe there is something still trapped inside. a piece of paper maybe or anything .Try to
remove or take out the thing trapped inside the paper feeder.

Q2. E4 = No ink
A. Press and hold the reset button for 5-10second then release it.Then the printer will back to
normal.

Q3. E5- The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is

installed, or the ink cartridges are not installed properly


A. Maybe the ink overflow until the ink spread on the circuit which contact with printer.Take out
the cartridge and clean the circuit with wet tissue then again with dry tissue.Repeat this step
for the cartridge placing point.

A. The ink cartridge is spoilt and you need to change a new one.

A. Error ink cartridges are not installed properly (error E5) :

Step 1 : Press and hold the power On/Off


Step 2 : Plug in power cable
step 3 : Press Reset 1 time, release power On/Off, Press Reset twice until you see the screen shown
“0”
Step 4 : Push “+” , display change from 0 to 1
Step 5 : Push Power switch again , Printer will print a page
step 6 : Open printer cover
Step 7 : Unplug the power cable
Step 8 : Take out ink 40 and 41
Step 9 : Insert power again
Step 10 : Switch on the power
Step 11 : Open scanner cover
Step 12 : Insert ink 40 , 41 again
Q4. E8 = Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full(need to counter

reset)

E27 = Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
A. 1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while
pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and
holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the
printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s)
according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights
alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.)

INK COUNTER RESET

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button
while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and
holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the
printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button 4 times to enter waste
counter menu.
5) Then press reset 4times. LED should go green

6) Then press ON/OFF button twice,the printer will back to normal.

Q6. E14 = The Ink cartridges which destination are wrong.


A. Plug the cartridge to right destination.

Q7. E15 = Ink cartridge is not installed

E16 – Ink remaining is unknown


A. Press and hold the reset button for 5-10second and release it. The printer will back to normal.

A. If the step above you have done but the printer still cannot work. You need to replace with new
cartridge.

Q8. E23 = Paper feed error


A. Maybe there is something still trapped inside. a piece of paper maybe or anything .Try to
remove or take out the thing trapped inside the paper feeder.

A. If the step above you done but still not working. You need to send back to service center for
repair.

Q9. E9 = The connected digital camera / video camera does not support Camera Direct Printing

E22 = Carriage error


E24 = Purge unit error
E25 = ASF(cam) sensor error
E26 = Internal temperature rise error
E28 = Ink cartridge temperature rise error
E29 = EEPROM error
E33 = Paper feed position error
E35 15 = USB Host VBUD overcurrent error – USB
E37 17 = Abnormal motor driver error
E40 20 = Other hardware error
E42 22 = Scanner error
A. For these few error code, please send back to service center for repair.

CANON MX308/MX318

Q1. Error code 6000


A. This problem majorly shows that there is a paper jam. but sometimes even if there is no paper
jam, it shows error 6000 .In that case, just switch off the device, wait for few seconds and then
try again. It will start working.

If there is a paper jam, follow the below steps to remove paper jam .

How to remove jammed paper If. [Paper output slot - The paper is jammed. Clear the paper and
press OK] appears on the LCD, follow this procedure to clear the paper jam.If paper is jammed in
the auto sheet feeder or paper output slot, paper will not feed through the printer. Please follow
the instructions below for Clearing paper jams from the auto sheet feeder (ASF) or paper output
slot.

• If Credit Card sized or 4" x 6" paper is set in landscape orientation, it will jam. Please follow the
instructions below for Clearing credit card-sized or 4" x 6" paper jammed inside the printer.

Clearing credit card-sized or 4" x 6" paper jammed inside the printer:

1. Power the printer off.


2. Set the same paper type as the jammed paper in the portrait orientation.
3. Power the printer on. (The printer feeds the paper, resulting in ejecting the jammed paper.)
4. Set paper properly in the portrait orientation to resume printing.

Clearing paper jams from the auto sheet feeder (ASF) or paper output slot:

1. Power the printer off.

2. Pull out the paper gently.

3. If torn paper remains within the printer, open the scanning unit (printer cover) to remove it.
CAUTION: To prevent injury or damage to the unit avoid touching inner parts.

4. Power the printer on and confirm that the Alarm lamp is off.
NOTE: Any jammed paper that remains within the printer may be ejected automatically.
5. Set paper properly to resume printing.

Q2. Check ink U163 error

A. Either you are not using genuine cartridge or you have refilled the cartridge.
To fix this you need to disable the ink checking procedure.
Do you know that low ink or ink has run out message appears once cartridge empty. If you
want to use refill ink in that cartridge then you need to deactivate ink level to get your printer
run as usual. Check the following tips to fix low ink error message in case of refill ink usage.
Below some methods to deactivate ink level detection function for some models due to its
similarity. PRESS and HOLD the RESUME/CANCEL + BLACK or COLOR button for 5-
10second then release it then you will heard sound “beep” ,the cartridge is reset.

Q3. Check ink, U501 error


A. Power off, press and hold the red button, power on and hold the button, release the red button
twice, you will hear the “beep” sound. Then will back to normal.

HOW TO RESET THE INK CARTRIDGE WHEN IT RUNNING


OUT OF INK

1. Press RESUME/CANCEL button once

CANON MP245/MX328/MX338 (PG-810/CL-811)

Q1. Yellow light on Black/Color keep blinking and Error 2 or 4 appear,


A. For CISS user, the L joint from pipe to cartridge on the magenta block the cartridge to contact
with the printer, so that the printer cannot recognize the cartridge. You should enlarge it and
seal it with rubber plug provided, then make another hole beside the original hole to avoid the
L joint from blocking the cartridge to contact with printer.

A. Black or color cartridge running out of ink. Press and hold the RESUME/RESET button for 5-
10second then release it to reset the cartridge.
