The meta-material development aims to obtain the novel composite periodic structures of dielectric, magnetic, and metallic materials. The computational engines based on the AEMT and FDTD techniques are applied to accurately characterize the periodic composite dielectricmagnetic-metallic meta-materials. The results are integrated into the creation of new electromagnetic designs with superior figures of merit.

Meta-Material Composite Periodic Structures:

The aim of Meta-Material development is to obtain the novel

composite periodic structures of dielectric, magnetic, and metallic
materials in order to present unique structural configurations with
superior EM properties which are not observed in naturally occurring
materials. The powerful computational engines based on the
Anisotropic Effective Medium Theory (AEMT) and FDTD techniques are
applied to accurately characterize the periodic composite dielectric-
magnetic-metallic meta-materials and obtain their unique
electromagnetic performances. The results are integrated into the
creation of new electromagnetic designs with superior figures of
merit. The challenge in this research is both on characterization and
fabrication. The proposed meta-materials have the promising
applications in the future antenna and microwave systems, RF front-
end nanotechnologies, Micro-Electromagnetics, FSS designs, Fractals,
EBG materials, Double Negative (DNG) media, super lenses,
impedance surfaces, and etc.

Materials with Negative Permittivity and Permeability

Properties (DNG Media):

The objective in this work is to obtain the performance of composite

periodic straight wires/Split Ring Resonators (SRR) meta-materials,
and highlight the concept of negative permittivity/permeability
property of the designed artificial structures with the emphasis on
their novel applications in microwave and optical devices. The
computational analysis is based on the FDTD approach.

Broadband Characterization of Complex Periodic Structures:

An advanced and diversified computational engine utilizing

FDTD/Prony technique is developed to present the broadband
analysis of complex finite and infinite periodic structures in layered
inhomogeneous media. The aim of this research is to provide the
electromagnetic characteristics of finite/periodic structures and
incorporate the results into some novel applications in the areas of,
(a) embedded-circuit meta-materials, (b) micro-electromagnetics, (c)
nanotechnologies, (d) optical communications, (e) FSS designs, (f)
EBG and PBG materials, (g) high Q nanocavity lasers, (h) optical
waveguides, (i) smart surfaces for communication systems, (j)
reactive impedance surfaces, (k) communication antennas, (l)
creation of DNG media, (m) the notion of equivalent media, (n)
