Preparation of Acid Base Indicators

This document provides information on various acid-base indicators including their: 1) pH range of color change, common color changes, and preparation methods. It notes that the preparation quantities should be considered approximations and may need adjustment based on the intended use and environment. 2) Over 40 different acid-base indicators are listed along with their pH range, typical color changes, and how to prepare them - most involve dissolving the indicator in water, ethanol, or other solvents in varying concentrations. 3) The indicators cover a wide range of pH values from 0 to over 12, with color changes including yellow to blue, red to green, and others that could be used to detect different pH levels in acid-

The quantities listed in the "Preparation" column did not come down with Moses from
Mount Sinai. They ought to be considered to be only good approximations. The audience
of users, the decision whether to determine a titration error for a particular color change
and the experimental environment must be considered when deciding what quantity is
best to use.
