CCTV Footage Photos - Theft at Sai Baba Temple in Alandi'Pune

On the night of September 30th, 2010, a group of thieves broke into the Shri Sai Baba Temple near Pune and stole lakhs of rupees from donation boxes. The thieves attacked and beat three security guards unconscious with iron rods before looting three donation boxes outside the temple sanctuary and cash from a fourth box inside. Closed-circuit cameras captured images of four men breaking into the sanctuary door lock and committing the 15-minute theft. The police have launched an investigation and are searching for the criminals.

SHRI SAI BABA TEMPLE`ALANDI, PUNE


Friday 01st Oct`2010

Tal: Haveli, Dist: Pune

Around 01:25 am on 30th Sept`2010,


a group of thieves looted about lakhs from 4 Donation boxes kept at
the Shri Sai Baba Temple on Pune-Alandi Road near Dighi.
According to Shri Subash Nelge, Chairman of the Shri Sai Sewa
Pratisthan`Pune, around 02:00 am, he got a call from the Temples
neighboring watchman who after sounding an alert around the area,
narrated the theft to Shri Subash Nelge, who inturn informed the
Police and rushed to the temple.

Manik Akolkar, senior police inspector with Vishrantwadi police station


who is investigating the case said, “Around 01:25 am, the thieves
entered inside the Temple from the back side & attacked the 3 security
guards who were on duty.
The thieves used Iron rods to thrash the Guards on their heads so
badly that they were left Unconscious. The Iron rods were found lying
at the spot where some construction is going on.”

Of the Four Donation boxes, the suspects took away Three Boxes
which were kept outside the Sanctum, while looted the cash from the
one main Box kept inside the inner sanctum, where Sai Baba's Idol is
installed. The total amount stolen is estimated in lakhs, according to
the latest reports.

However, luckily the Closed-Circuit Cameras have captured the images


of the 15-minute-long theft, showing Four men of the group breaking
the Temples Sanctum Door Lock using the Iron Rod.
The Police have undertaken search operation for the criminals
immediately by sealing the area.
The nearby localities were combed and a probe is on.

But the exact number of the Thieves is not yet known as Two guards
are still Unconscious, of which one is serious.
While information is being gathered from the third guard who is back
to consciousness. Also, the CCTV installed inside the Sanctum is yet to
be seen, to find out more about the exact number of Thieves.
