How To Extract SAP SAR File

To extract an SAP SAR file, first download the SAPCAR.exe file from the SAP Support Packages website by selecting your operating system. Then copy the SAPCAR.exe file to the same location as the SAR file. Open a command prompt, set the path to the SAPCAR.exe file location, and use the command "SAPCAR -xvf SARfilename.SAR" to extract the SAR file.

How to extract SAP SAR file?


If you don’t have the sapcar.exe file, download from www.service.sap.com

Path www.service.sap.com -> Downloads -> SAP Support Packages -> Support Packages and
Patches – Entry by Application Group -> Additional Components -> SAPCAR

For example, if you try to download SAPCAR 7.00, click on it.

List of OS will be displayed, select appropriate Operating system

For example, I selected “Windows server on x64 64bit”

Download latest exe file.

Copy SAPCAR.exe file to location of, which sar file to be extracted.

Go to command prompt and set the path.

Type the below command.

SAPCAR -xvf SARfilename.SAR

Now, the SAR file has extracted.
