Middle Childhood Period of


Development

It is a period comprising of toddlers of 6 to 12 years of age.

Majority of children at this age are studying at sixth grade level of education.

The period contributes substantially to the next stage which is adolescent.

Characterized with expanding roles in the environment (Yeager, 2013)

Toddlers spend more time away from parents and families.

Period in development in reasoning due to flexibility in thinking, self-awareness and


identity of emotions.

A profession that requires one to


take different roles with the
objective of guiding the toddlers.

Leading the children into a journey


of new paths and experiences.

Facilitate development of a child


through learning and
encouragement.

Nurturing children basing on


emotion, social, cognitive and
physical.

Listening, interpreting actions and


teach them about environment.

Early childhood has the roots in ones personal success (Carlson,


2011).

Parents, teachers and community coming together to see children


thrive in developmental stages of their lives.

Nurturing children to survive in nature and environment through


proper parenting (Yeager, 2013).

Providing caring and supportive parenting styles that support


optimal early childhood development.

This defines 6 types of parent involvement.

It assists educators to develop school and partnership programs.

Reason to create partnership is help youngsters succeed in


school and later life (Davis, 2014).

The work of Epstein also describe challenges that are inherent


in fostering each and every type of parent that are involved as
well
