Chapter 3
1) We need food to stay alive because food gives us energy.
2) Food contains nutrients so we can grow well and stay healthy.
3) There are different types of nutrients : Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins and Mineral.
4) The function of carbohydrates is to give us energy.
5) The examples of food that rich in carbohydrates are rice, noodles, bread, potatoes, etc.
6) The functions of proteins is to help our body to grow and help us to build the different parts of
our body.
7) The examples of food that rich in proteins are milk, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, etc.
8) The functions of fats is to help us to store energy and help to keep our body warm.
9) The examples of food that rich in fats are meat, milk, butter, cake, ice-cream, etc
10) The functions of vitamins and minerals are helps our body to work properly and stay healthy.
11) The examples of vitamin are vitamin A, B, C, D, E and K.
12) The example of mineral is calcium.
13) Vitamin A is good for eyes. The examples of food that are rich in vitamin A are carrots, mangoes,
etc.
14) Vitamin C keeps us from falling ill easily. The examples of food that are rich in Vitamin C are
oranges, kiwi, etc.
15) Calcium helps to build strong bones and teeth. The examples of food that are rich in calcium are
milk, spinach, etc.
16) Why is the water important for our body? Because the water :
a. Helps to break down the food
b. Removes waste materials such as sweat, urine and faeces.
17) There are two sets of teeth : milk teeth (20 teeth) and permanent teeth ( 32 teeth).

19) Plaque is the sticky substance that sticks to our teeth and can make our teeth decay.
