ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Mechanical Engineering, the largest
department in the Institute, offers regular
undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree
programmes. It offers a number of continuing
education programmes too, for industry
personnel. Besides teaching, the members of the
faculty are involved in consultancy work
(Design&Development, Energy Auditing, Industrial
Sickness Evaluation, Testing etc.), sponsored
research work (sponsored by DST, AICTE, ARDB
etc.), and product development
ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
National Institute of Technology is fully centrally
funded by MHRD and is governed by the NIT Act
2007.NITC has ten departments, nine centers and
three schools. It offers nine undergraduates and
twenty four postgraduate programmes apart from
Ph.D. The institute has good infrastructure in
computing, information technology, laboratories
and central library including digital library. All
departments have separate computing facility in
addition to the central facility
ABOUT CALICUT
Calicut is a major centre of higher education,
learning and research in Kerala. It is the hometown
of institutions of national importance including
NITC, IIMK, DOEACC, CWRDM, IISR etc. Calicut is
connected by direct trains/road/air to all major
cities in India.

Recent Advances in Finite Element Methods to Solve Complex Engineering Problems

PREAMBLE
It is established that many real problems in
engineering cannot be solved without the
application of numerical techniques. The real
problems in various fields of engineering are
complex and to obtain solution of these complex
problems, mathematical modeling of higher order
partial differential equations are quite essential.
The exact solutions are almost impossible. If the
geometry and boundary conditions are very
complex. Under these situations numerical
methods have to be applied to obtain approximate
solutions. A finite element method is very popular
numerical methods and has wide applications in
various disciplines. Even though many FEM
softwares are available , it is necessary that the
used should have good knowledge about the basics
of FEM. This faculty programme is planned to fulfill
this objective.

RESOURCE PERSONS
The course will be conducted by eminent faculties
from reputed institutions like NITs, IITs and
Industries

For provisional registration, send the duly filled up
