Nutrients are substances which are essential for healthy growth.

Calorie value is a measure of the heat given out per unit mass of fuel during complete
combustion. It is used to measure the energy content of the food (1 calorie = 4.18 Joules).

Balanced diet consists of food which contains carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals and
vitamins in the correct proportions to maintain good health.
