Digestivesystem

This lab report summarizes experiments on the digestive system. Salivary amylase was shown to break down starch in the mouth. Taste buds were found to contribute significantly to taste and smell. Pictures show how animal teeth cut and grind food to start digestion. Further experiments demonstrate how the stomach uses acid and protein to break down food into a smoother substance for the small intestine. Additional figures illustrate the roles of the esophagus, liver, pancreas and other organs in digestion. In conclusion, the report outlines the multi-step process of digestion that begins in the mouth and involves actions of many organs.
