INTRODUCTION
When we talk about trenchless technology, two main items area used are
micro-tunnelling and pipe jacking. They have common aim, or final results,
a small diameter tubular underground support long excavation to held
inside pipes, cable, wires and so on called micro-tunnel.

PIPE JACKING
With pipe jacking, utility lines and pipes are driven underground in segments
frim the starting or launching shaft using hydraulic jacks.
After the starting and target shafts designed to absorb the jacking forces have
been constructed, the face is cut with a cutting shoe or under the protection of
shield tunnelling machine.
With each successive pipes, cutting shield is advanced, the hydraulic jacks
bearing against the reinforced wall of the shaft. In this way each individual pipes
lowered in to the shaft, joining to the previous one and then jacking forward.
The overcut produced by the cutting shoe is grouted with cement through in the
pipes.
In long span pipe jacking intermediate jacking stations are used to reduced the
jacking pressures and facilitate curved drives. With long tunnels, there are
intermediate shafts which may be crossed by the pipe section.

PIPE JACKING
The pipes are usually made of high strength concrete to withstand the
high jacking forces. They form driving elements and permanent
supports at the same time.
Their wall thickness and weights are determined by maximum
compression force occurring. The can be up to 40cm thick and weight
more than 50tons, and they are made on or off site.
Pipe jacking is a trenchless technology method for installing a
prefabricated pipe through the ground from a driving shaft to a
reception shaft.
In the pipe jacking operation, jacks located in the drive shaft propel
the pipe. The jack force is transmitted through the pipe-to-pipe
interaction, to the excavating face. When the excavation is
accomplished, the spoil is transported through the jacking pipe in the
drive shaft by manual or mechanical means

INSTALLATION
Construction of trust block, Entrance ring and
entrance wall and installation of guide rails to
accommodate the TBM.
Installation of hydraulic main jacks in the jacking
shaft to jack the TBM & concrete pipes into the
ground.
The jacks are set up together with accessories as
pressure plate, thrust ring and guide rails.
