First Grade Weekly

News
This Past Week in Class:

This week, we took our reading unit assessment

on the computer for the first time. This was a
great way to show the students how these
computer tests work so they are prepared to
take them in later grades. We learned about
oviparous (egg-laying) animals. We made a chick
life-cycle book and a project listing different
types of egg-laying animals. We learned that
birds are not the only animals to lay eggs. We
ended reading month with a read-in, reading
good books with our glow bracelets. Our new
reading unit will begin after spring break. We
will learn how to classify and categorize things.
Our next spelling test will be on Friday, April
15th. The new words are: two, more, write, every,
and see. These words are included in the weekly
homework activities.

Math:

Beck Centennial
Elementary

This week we learned how to measure objects with

non-standard units. We learned how to tell time
on digital and analog clocks to the hour. After
spring break we will continue to learn to read both
types of clocks to the half hour.
