How to Connect your EasyCoder C4 via the USB port (Windows XP)

In order to establish a connection between your EasyCoder C4 and a PC via


the USB port, you need to install the USB driver package included on the
PrinterCompanion CD. Please note that you must do this before installing
InterDriver or LabelShop.

1. Connect the printer to your PC with a USB cable, and turn it on. Your
PC will prompt you to install USB drivers:

2. Choose Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and proceed


to click NEXT. The following screen will appear:

3. The required USB Controller driver files are located in the C4 USB Drivers
folder on the PrinterCompanion CD. Scroll down the list to X:\software\C4
USB Driver (Where X is your CD-ROM driver). Click BROWSE and then
confirm your choice by hitting OK when the following screen appears:

4. Click NEXT to start the installation. The following screen appears:

If the following message appears, please proceed and click


CONTINUE ANYWAY.

5. When installation of the USB Controller is complete, the following screen


appears. Click FINISH to close the installation wizard.

6. After approximately 30 seconds, the Hardware Wizard will prompt you to install
the USB Serial Port driver:

7. Proceed to install USB Serial Port driver in same way as the USB Controller
driver. The required files are located in the same folder on the PrinterCompanion
CD: X:\software\C4 USB Driver (Where X is your CD-ROM drive)
Please note that you need restart your PC before the USB port is fully
functional.

8. Now locate the new USB port in the Control Panel meny: Choose START/
CONTROL PANEL/ SYSTEM/ HARDWARE/ DEVICE MANAGER and expand
Ports (COM & LPT). The USB port shows up as a virtual serial USB port.

Please take a note of the assigned COM port number (COM 4 in


this example). No other port information will be given when installing
InterDriver or LabelShop.
9. You may now proceed to install InterDriver or LabelShop. Please follow the
instructions provided on the PrinterCompanion CD.
Please note that in order to print from LabelShop, the COM port assigned
as USB port may not be associated with any device (hardware or software)
other than your EasyCoder C4 printer.

Make sure that you select the COM port that has been assigned as USB serial
port.
