FT857 897 - CF1005 Fix

This document discusses a common problem in Yaesu FT-857 and FT-897 radios where the AM filter fails, causing intermittent static crashes in the receiver even without an antenna attached. The likely cause is a design flaw where DC voltage is applied to the ceramic filter against the manufacturer's recommendations. Adding small capacitors to block the DC voltage from reaching the filter appears to solve the problem and prevent further damage. While difficult, this is a possible DIY fix to resolve the issue and avoid having to replace the faulty ceramic filter through a service center.
