D.C. COUNCIL
The price tag of Mayor Muriel Bowsers plan to build seven family homeless shelters across the
District dominated the conversation at the first D.C. Council hearing on the matter last week, but
administration officials emphasized the need to act quickly to replace D.C. General.
DEVELOPMENT
Two condo projects on Connecticut Avenue NW in Chevy Chase have irked residents of nearby
single-family homes, who are lamenting the loss of the area's traditional, comparatively low-density
character.
EDUCATION
Georgetown's Hyde-Addison Elementary School will face yet another delay to its planned
modernization and expansion, and parents are unhappy about the idea of proposed swing space near

After Metro's unprecedented shutdown, local officials say more funding is needed to get the troubled
transit system back on track.
The proposed route for the annual Army Ten-Miler race has sparked controversy among Foggy
Bottom neighborhood leaders, with some fearing that the event's road closures will inconvenience or
even endanger residents of the Watergate complex.
