A music video requires several key elements:
- A song/tune that provides the soundtrack, which may include lyrics;
- Filming equipment like cameras to capture footage;
- A cast of people to appear and act in the video;
- Locations where the video will be shot;
- Costumes, props, and visuals that relate to the song's theme and lyrics;
- Editing of the footage to match the rhythm and story of the song.
Most music videos are 3-4 minutes long but some more cinematic videos can be longer, aiming to convey a narrative over the course of the song. Elements like camerawork, sound design, and the emotional response aimed for in viewers

Task 2:Music Video Recipe
TASK 2: Write a recipe for a music video using the information you have found and write a recipe about what you see/need in ALL music videos; whos in them? How long are they and what do they show? Do they link to the lyrics?
For a music video, you need
A tune- this could possibly include lyrics in this as well, either for part or the whole of the music video. Camera- this is needed to film the music video with, so every music video will need this. Cast- this is needed so that there are people to act in the music video. Location- this is obviously needed so that there is somewhere for the music video to be filmed and based at. You would probably want to use more than one location, to make the music video more interesting for the viewers. Costume to match the song- this is not always in music videos, sometimes the costumes dont match the song but mostly they do as it looks better that way. Possible props to suit the lyrics- these are needed, so that the props in the video link to the music and the lyrics in the song, so that the video can help to tell a story. Duration- Most music videos are around 3-4 minutes. Although, there are some narrative music videos that are longer than this (for example up to 6 or 7 minutes) as they tell a longer story throughout the video.

Target audience- you need to know your target
audience because then you know whom you are aiming your music video to, and who you think will watch your music video. Camera shots- you need to use a variety of camera shots in a music video, so that it is interesting for the viewers to watch. For example, you should use a variety of long shots, close ups, angle shots, tracking shots, pan or tilt shots, establishing shots, etc Sound- in a music video you would have to decide if your going to use diegetic or non diegetic sound, this is either you have just the sound from the music in the video, or you also include some sound from the noises made while filming. You would also have to consider whether you are going to use some sound effects or not in a music video. Editing- you would need the right software to use to edit a music video. Also, you would have to make sure that it is edited to match the song. This could be by using cuts to the beat of the song, or using special effects which match the song, or add to the song of the music video. Identify representation- you have to think about how you would want the cast to be represented, and how they are going to look in the music video. This could be from the way that they act or dance in the music video. Audiences targeted Emotional Response- you would have to consider what response you want from your target audience after watching your music video, and what emotions your video is going to play on. This could be, for example fear, love, happiness, heart warming, crying (emotional).

What do you see or need in ALL music
videos? What you see/need in ALL music videos is A cast. This varies from 1 person to hundreds of people. A location. This again varies from only one location used, to having used hundreds of places in the video. Sound. Whether it is diegetic or non-diegetic, or if there are sound effects or extra sound or not there is always sound in a music video. A tune. This is either just the tune of the music in the video, or just an instrumental in the video. There could also possibly be lyrics used as well. The lyrics are always shown at some point in music videos with the actor(s)/cast miming or singing them.
