Search Engines: Ranjan Patra B.Tech (CSE) IV TH Sem HNB Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India

Search engines are software programs that search for websites based on keywords and look through databases of information to find what users are looking for. The first search tools were Archie in 1990, followed by Gopher in 1991 and Wandex in 1993. Google rose to prominence around 2000. Search engines work by using web crawlers to index websites and store the information in databases, then search engine result pages return relevant results to users based on their queries. Websites can be optimized for search engines by using unique titles and descriptions, improving URL structure, and properly implementing heading tags.
