1. On the Comfort panel, enable the OPC UA server functionality in the Runtime settings and Service menus. 2. Configure the OPC settings to not sign or encrypt and use no security for testing purposes. 3. Download to the HMI and use OPC Scout to connect to the server, add tags from the HMI namespace, and monitor their values.

Procedure to create an OP UA Server on a Comfort panel and

test it on OPC Scout V10


(SIMATIC NET V12 SP2)

#1 Go to Runtime settings of the Comfort panel

#2 Go to Service and check Operate as OPC-UA server

#3 Go to OPC settings
For test, uncheck Sign and encrypt and check None

#4 Download to HMI

#5 Open OPC Scout V10 and create a project

#6 Add an UA Server (Offline server)

#7 Enter the URL of the OPC UA server


Ex: opc.tcp://192.168.0.5:4870
4870 reference to
IP address of HMI

Adjust security mode as in TIA Portal (None for our example)

#8 Press on Connect server

This message may appear, click on Yes.

#9 There is a confirmation we are connect to server

#10 Add tag by pressing on ...

#11 Choose um:HmiWebLink:VarProvider in Namespace Url


#12 Enter the name of the tag as in TIA Portal

#13 Press on Monitoring ON
