Ella is seen leaving the house and going out leaving Rosie alone in
bed asleep. As Rosie is alone the front door opens and an intruders
comes into the house walking up the stairs playing creepy music
from a music box. In her room she hears the front door open and
hears someone walking up the stairs, petrified, Rosie hides in her
wardrobe as she hears the sound of the intruder coming closer
along with the sound of creepy music from a music box.

Narrative
Equilibrium- In the opening part of our sequence Rosie is shown
asleep in her room, this scene is relaxed and quiet as Rosie is asleep.
No disruption has occurred yet.
Disequilibrium- Ella then goes out leaving her sister alone in the house
you can tell by the audience that this was the wrong thing to do. When
her sister leaves you see an intruder approach the house and enters,
when in the house the intruder takes out a music box and goes up the
stairs going to the younger sisters room.
The sister then awakes and hear these sounds and gets scared and
climbs into the wardrobe. The intruder then goes into the younger
sisters room and plans to kidnap her. The scene then ends with a
negative atmosphere and it makes the audience worry for the younger
sister.
In our opening sequence two stages of Todorovs narrative theory is
used as there is a equilibrium where the atmosphere is happy and
natural then there is a disruption where a negative atmosphere occurs
and when the younger sister Rosie is left alone in the house and an
intruder comes in to kidnap her.

Mise En Scene
Costume/Makeup- The costume for Danielle will be simple and causal clothes e.g. long
sleeve top and jeans as she is representing a modern day older sister. The costume for
Olivia will minion onesie this represents how young she is and what is popular with the
younger children. It also shows what time of night the film is set as she is wearing pyjamas
this shows how she is getting ready for bed. The costume for Jak will be black clothes and
gloves this is stereotypical as intruder dress in dark and dull colour to cover up their
indemnity and to keep it a mystery to the audience.
Setting/Location- For our location we used different rooms of a house such as the younger
sisters bedroom the downstairs hallway and the upstairs hallway. Also we used the outside
of the house and the streetlight which is located next to the house. This is as we wanted
our setting to be realistic.
Character Positioning- Phoebes body language shows that she is scared of what's going
on in the house and of what's happened to her daughter. We done this to create tension
and a enigma in our production.
Lighting-In the opening sequence we use bright lighting to show the equilibrium in the
beginning of the happy and positive atmosphere. We used a light to help us make the
scenes look brighter as our filming took part at night to go with the genre of our film.
Props- In the opening sequence we have very few props as our production didnt require a
lot of props. The props we use are items which you could define in a creepy film to set the
suspense and the idea of a kidnap happening. These items can include a music box,
gloves, torch , key and a bag. Also some of the props used such as a toy this also
represents how we have a young child in our production this shows her young and caring
side.
