What are the rules of Futoshiki?
Futoshiki is a fun puzzle game. The rules of futoshiki are as follows:
You start with a grid that is usually 5 x 5 in shape, or 7 x 7 for larger futoshiki puzzles.
There are also greater than and less than signs between certain cells on the grid.
The aim is to fill each row and column with 1 - 5 exactly once (assuming a 5 x 5 grid) this rule is familiar from sudoku.
However there are no box regions to concern you as in sudoku.
The big difference is the inequality signs, and you must obey these in your answers. For
instance if you have that a cell is greater than the one next to it, then you know the left
cell cannot be 1 and the right cell cannot be 5.
Use logic alone to deduce where each number goes and solve the puzzle.
We can also provide these samurai star puzzles in a range of formats, standardly PDF
black on white; you may also wish to have regions coloured for added clarity if you print
in colour plates or in one additional colour - you may specify your requirements.
Flower Sudoku ("Musketry Sudoku") has five sudoku puzzles in layout, similar to
Samurai Sudoku. However, these puzzles overlap each other much more than in Samurai.
The center grid is fully covered by the remaining four sub-puzzles.
In Star Sudoku the row on the outer edge of the grid includes the cell on the nearest
sharp end of the figure.
Greater Than Sudoku is the variation of the original sudoku. In addition, greater than or
less than signs (">" or "<") in the walls indicate that one cell's number is greater than or
less than an adjacent cell's number. Also called "Compdoku".
