LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK

WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE

PROGRESSION FROM IT TO FULL PRODUCT.

CINEMATOGRAPHY
After comparing our preliminary task to our final production we found that
we have used way more shots and we used a wider range of shots.
In our preliminary task we only used wide shots and close ups, we didnt
frame our shots well and the 180 degree rule was also broken. Shots in
our preliminary task didnt show any powerful character or any weak
character due to bad character positioning.

WHY WAS THE PRELIMINARY TASK

IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF CINEMATOGRAPHY
The preliminary task was important as it gave us experience of filming for
the first time and we had the opportunity to make mistakes without being
penalised. In our final production we knew how to frame the shots, which
shots would be ideal for the scenarios in our films. We knew all this due to
the preliminary task.
We also got a really good understanding of the 180 degree rule after
filming our preliminary task .

EDITING
In terms of editing, we have really come a long way from the editing
which was done in the preliminary task to the editing that was done in
our final production. We found how to use different editing techniques
such as a match on action and also a shot reverse shot.
There was a nice flow in our final production as we knew exactly where to
separate each clip as we had learnt this during our preliminary task.

WHY WAS THE PRELIMINARY

TASK IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF
EDITING.

The preliminary task gave us a good idea of what shots would give us
good editing techniques such as shot reverse shot. It also gave us an
understanding of how to create good linear narratives during editing. The
preliminary task also allowed us to get a good of the editing software
before we actually approached it.
We also learnt mistakes that we had made on the first task and we
avoided the same mistakes in our final production.

OVERALL
Overall I feel that I have come a long way in producing the film. I have
learnt many different techniques which I could get better shots and I have
much better knowledge of the camera equipment. I also got a good idea
of the editing software and should I use it again I have a good idea of it.
I have understood how important mis-en-scene and sound our for our film
and I also found out how character positioning is very important.
